I think we might have the same family, 2 different Georges. My George had brothers Wales and Hiram, a sister Alice (my gggrandmother). His father's name was William, he was a teamster, and his mother was Lavica Whittaker. Do you have any dates? My William was born around 1820, died 1891.

Hi,
I am Lawrence Chandler.
Settie Bradley Chappell was my mother Gertrude Chappells brother. I have been in touch with Augusta's family, so I am surprised that you only go back to 1895.

I think Jesse Chappell's (died 1810 in what is now Anderson County, SC) father was Robert Chappell who died in GA in 1819. But I cannot find proof of this fact.
Does anyone know who Jesse Chappell's parents are??
Thanks for any leads.
Peggy

Hi,
I'm afraid I don't have a marriage for our John CHAPPLE/CHAPPELL. Baltonsborough is about 12 miles from Stawell, and as the CHAPPLE name (in all its variants) is relatively common in Somerset, it may be that your John was from Baltonsborough or nearby.
I found the following in the census, and wondered if they might be your folks?
1841 census
Baltonsborough, Somerset
John CHAPPEL, 30, Lab, Y
Ann CHAPPEL, 30, Y
Joseph CHAPPEL, 2, Y
George CHAPPEL, 5 months, Y
John CHAPPEL, 60, Lab, Y
(Note: Y merely means that yes, they were born in Somerset, and in 1841 ages of adults were rounded down to the nearest 5 years).
1851 census
Martin Street, Baltonsborough, Somerset
John CHAPPLE, Head, Mar, 45, Labourer, Baltonsborough, Somerset
Ann CHAPPLE, Wife, Mar, 41, Charlton Addam, Somerset
Sidney CHAPPLE, Son, 8, Scholar, Baltonsborough, Somerset
Lucy CHAPPLE, Dau, 7, Scholar, Baltonsborough, Somerset
John CHAPPLE, Son, 4, Scholar, Baltonsborough, Somerset
Elizabeth CHAPPLE, Dau, 1, Scholar, Baltonsborough, Somerset
I see that the family did, indeed, have a George in 1841, though he appears to be missing in 1851.
Do let me know if you think I can help further.
Best wishes,
Sue

Hi Sue, Did the son named John (bap 25 Feb 1810) marry, and if so is there a connection with the village of Baltonsborough in Somerset? I am in NSW Australia, and I have various documents relating to a John and Ann Chapple of Baltonsborough and several of their children, including a son who migrated to Australia (the migrant was a George Chapple, and he was my great grandfather). Various Aussie descendants carry middle names including Dennis and Jehu.
Cheers,
