I think that the two John Chappells are two different people. Familysearch.org now has a listing for a Bennet Chappell b. 1560 in London, England. Bennet Chappell was present on the 1586 expedition to Roanoke Island in North Carolina and he returned to England when the "lost colony" settlement arrived in 1587. He is listed as having a son, John Chappell, b. in 1600. I think it is very probable that he is the John Chappell who arrived on the Assurance in 1635. This line settled in Warwick County (now Newport News) and after a few generations migrated south to Lower Norfolk County and eventually on to northeastern North Carolina. They are sometimes referred to as the Tidewater Chappells. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who has any other specific information about this.

Can anyone assist people who are requesting a copy of the Chappell Family File? My computer crashed and I lost everything. I had some of it backed up on floppy disks, but I discovered that some of my floppies have become too old and won't open any more. I wish I could help, but I can't at this time. Judi

I am looking for any information regarding Mary Emma Chappel born Mary Emma
Richardson on May 31, 1868. Her parents were Thomas and Jane Richardson.
Thomas was a City Missionary in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. Emma married
firstly Fred Chappel in 1890 and secondly Matthew Stobbs. She was last
documented in Paisley, Scotland in 1913 and then disappeared. Have she shown
up in anyone's research ?
Cathie in Ontario, Canada
Looking for anyone with information on CHAPPEL/CHAPPELL's that migrated from
England to PEI, Canada in the early 1800's. I have bits and pieces that I'm
trying to place together and am hoping that someone out there is researching
a similiar line. I'm particularly looking for information on the ancestors
and descendants of William CHAPPELL b. abt 1833 in PEI, d. 1900 in PEI - I
believe that his parents were John CHAPPELL (b. 1800 d. 1870) & Elizabeth
UNKNOWN (b. 1802 d. 1870) but have not been able to verify or deny.
Information on William CHAPPELL (b. 1833) I believe to be true:
William CHAPPELL married Jane CHAMPION approx. 1859/60 in PEI. Jane was b.
abt 1839 in PEI, d. 1898, her parents were William CHAMPION & Annie
SUDSBURY. Number and names of William and Jane's children not verified
except for one, they had a son William C. Chappell b. 1861 in PEI, d. 1924
in PEI). I believe that they had other children but do not have concrete
proof.
William C. CHAPPELL married Margaret WALL approx. 1880 in PEI. Margaret was
b. 1861 in PEI, d. 1938 in PEI, her parents were Frederick WALL & Susanna
ADAMS. William & Margaret's children (all born in PEI):
Fred b. 1885
James b. 1888
John Henry (aka Harry) b. 1890 d. 1976; m. Hazel CONNELL-MCLURE abt 1915;
Hazel b. 1899 in PEI d. 1969
Reuben b. 1893 d. 1961; m. after 1934
Silas b. 1895 d. 1975
Earl b. 1899
Janie b. 1901 d. 1990; m. George WARD; George b. 1890 d. 1959
Any information that can be forwarded would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Jennie
