Kevin, do you have any dates and/or places of birth or death for the children of
John? I will go look and see what I can come up with.
The 1910 census includes another daughter who is married...Oca who is married to Marvin (Wilson?) She is just 17 and he 18. This census says his father was b. in VA and his mother in NJ. Wish we could find him on earlier censuses.
I can only find one near match in 1880, where he might still be with his parents (do you have a marriage date for John?)but the birthdate is off by 4 years.
Whatever other info you might have on him would be most helpful.
Carolyn

Ova was my grandmother, but I never knew her. I believe from letters that Roland lived in Montpellier, OH. I know nothing about Ra Vanna.
Can anyone help?

I tried to respond directly to Lee Haney, but the e-mail address given does not contain a domain name.
I have been on the Chappell mailing list for years and none of the references are ever to my ancestors. I think this one actually is.
I have that George was born in 1800 and died in 1871 and that Cynthia was born in 1810 and died in 1866. The years are a little off, but close. I am descended from their daughter, Elizabeth Ann Chappell Johnson. She is my gg grandmother. I have additional information on the Hayes family which goes back to 1655, but I have nothing more on the Chappells. It's been several years since I have had time to actively pursue genealogy and haven't even had time to organize the information I have, but I don't think I had ever seen George's father's name before. I would love to exchange information. Who are you descended from?

My ancestor, George Chappell was born in 1803 in NY and died 1875 in Ohio. He married Cynthia Hayes also born in NY and died in Ohio. The only other information I have is that George's father was named James. Do you have any connection or any more information? Please e-mail me at rleehaney.com Thanks, Lee H

The dates are too late to be my Emery. My GGF was Perry Austin Chappell who was born in Madisonville, Hopkins County, KY. He was born in 1867. His father was Emery Chappell, who was born approx. 1837. Emery's parents were John and Nancy Chappell, but I believe they were from Pike Co., Indiana. Just having a hard time tracking them down.

John H. Chappell was born in 1851 (Virginia) and Nancy J. was born 1849. The known children were Andrew, Rebecca, John H.B., Lizzia, Maranda, George W., James F., Charles O. On one census listed 12 children, 6 living. So there may have been an Emery. I just don't know right now.

What years do you have for John and Nancy Chappell? Do you know if one of their kids was Emery?

Searching for information on the family of Mary CHAPPELL DAVIS(1824-abt. 1855), daughter of Miles Chappell who marrried Oliver P. DAVIS (1818-1863)in Fayette, Alabama about 1838. This Davis family appears on 1850 Census in Anderson Co., Texas with children Arthur, Emily, James, Susannah, Miles, all born in Alabama & where Laticia was born in 1850 and John T. in 1853. I assume Mary Chappell Davis must have died around 1855, as the family returned to Fayette and the children were split up among the various Davis & Chappell relatives in the 1860 Census.in Fayette, AL. In the 1850 Census of Anderson Co., Tx, they were living near Mary Chappell's younger sister Pallatine who was married to John Collier FREEMAN. The Freeman family remained in Texas. Oliver P. Davis died in Fayette/Tuscaloosa Alabama & his will was probated in 1863, with no mention of a wife, only the children and their spouses were listed. Their oldest daughter Emily Palestine Davis married Thomas D. Enis in !
1857. Their daughter
