I've come across an old photo of a Phil E. Chappell in an antique store. The photo was taken in Kansas City. On the back, it says "Phil E. Chappell Cadiz, Kentucky" I'd like to return the photo to its rightful family (free, no charge). I don't know if this is the correct family, but I thought I'd take a chance. My email address is:

Frances Chappell married Thomas Linville Hilborn Feb. 01 1865, in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. I am would like to find out if they had any children. I can't find any trace of Thomas other than the marriage record. His mother was a Heacock.
Frances or Fanny's parents names are Elisha and Frances E. Chappell.
I have no record of his death. I have found Frances re-marrying in 1892 in Toronto to a Richard Brimson. No record of her death but have a record of R. Brimson's death.
I would like to find out what happened to my GG Uncle. He might have moved to Michigan were I located his sister and her family. I haven't found him on a Census from that area.
Tks for any help anyone can give

Hi Chappell researchers!
Just a note to let you know our CHAPPELL mailing list has changed over to Rootsweb's new Mailman mailing system. You should have received an e-mail about the new system a week or so ago. The change should help the lists run smoothly and cut down on the number of spam messages that try to access the lists. The old system never let the spam through to the list, but we List Administrators would get quite a bit of it as spammers tried to mess up your genealogical research!
There are a couple of changes that will affect you: The first is for those who receive both individual e-mails and digest mail. You can no longer receive both mailings to the same e-mail address. It was an unavoidable part of the change-over, and it affects me, too. So if you were receiving both mailings, you'll have to resubscribe to the Digest with another e-mail address if you wish to keep receiving it.
The second is that we will not be receiving messages from the CHAPPELL message board at Rootsweb for a time. The staff is working to correct this problem, but until it is running again, you might wish to check the CHAPPELL message board at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.chappell. If you a registered user, you might consider adding the message board to "My Notifications." This will let you know when a message has been posted and you can choose to read it or not. The message boards are also getting ready for a major update to make them easier to navigate and use.
If you should experience any problems with the CHAPPELL mailing list in the near future, please let me know at CHAPPELL-admin(a)rootsweb.com and I'll pass it along to the proper staff members. We don't anticipate any problems, but we ARE dealing with computers! <G>
Happy Hunting!

Donna, This is some of what I have:
Stephen Chappell of VA married Ellen Mae of New York and settled in Syracuse. There are two known children of this marriage, Earl Burgess and Edward Derice.
Edward Derice Chappell b. 29 Apr 1842, Syracuse, NY
d. 6 Sep 1921, Littleton, Warren Co., NC. He married Eliza Jain Galloway, daughter of an Irishman Gaege Galloway. She was born 1847 in Ireland or England. and the family immigrated to Quebec, Canada abt. 1857. She had a sister Auntie or Aggie Guffie who was a nurse & married a Dr. Guffie of Quebec. They traveled to & from China aboard a large ship where they both may have worked. They had a son. In Eliza's older years an Uncle from Quebec, Canada was remembered as visiting her in NC.
Children were:
1. Walter Burgess, b. 1867, Minnesota, d. 1933, Littleton, Warren Co., NC, buried, Sunset Hills Cemetery, Littleton, NC
2. Annie Adellon, b. May 1869, Chippeau Falls, Wisconsin, d. 1914, Littleton, NC. She is buried in an unmarked grave in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Littleton, NC.
3. Harvey Eber, b. 9 Feb. 1873, PA, d. 29 Sep 1945, Nash Co., NC [my grandfather]
4. Edward Derice, b. 14 Aug 1877, PA, d. 30 Jul 1900, Nash Co., NC
5. Bernice Mae, b. 1879, Giles, Amelia Co., VA, d. 20 Aug 1933, Nash Co., VA
6. Maude Selby, b. 26 Oct 1883, Greensville Co., VA
d. 14 Oct 1908, Nash Co., NC
Mary Lee, b. 19 Sep 1884, Greensville, VA, d. 20 Feb 1937, Castalia, Nash Co., NC
They were highly educated, lumber people, had their own Saw Mill and took it with them as they moved.
Annie Adellon married Selby Crowell Alston 1891 in NC. He was born Sep 1864 & died abt 1932 in Littleton, Warren or Halifax Co., NC.
Children were:
1. Selby Carlton, b. 27 Jan 1895, Northampton Co., NC
2. Gideon Macon, b. Sep 1898, NC
3. Thelma Adellon, b. Dec 1899, Nash Co., NC, d. bet. 1915-1918 Littleton, Warren Co., NC
4. Annie Arlene, b. 14 Aug 1902, Nash NC, d. 1 May 1999, Newport News, VA
5. Marium Bernice, b. 5 Nov 1904, Halifax Co., d. Dec 1977, Halifax Co., NC
5. Samuel Jerome, B 1905, NC
6. Maude Chappell, b. 9 Oct 1908, NC, d. 3 Sep 1993, Ronake Rapids, Halifax, NC
7. Camilla, b. 5 Mar 1913, Nash Co., NC, d. 11 Apr 2000, Hollister, Halifax, NC
I believe the Alston family information is listed in Ancestry and maybe Rootsweb. Also the family kept updated books on the history and the last one was updated in time to get Selby and Annie in it. If you can find some more of the descendants you may find more from them. Hope I have helped and let me know if I can be of further assistance. The descendant you know may want to contact me personally for additional information.
Good luck, Jackie C. Harper

I am tracing my ancestry from NY to Connecticut. Does anyone have information about Ira Chappell (1790-1845) and Orinda Pierson (1789-1880), who married about 1810 in Connecticut and settled in Montezuma, Cayuga County NY? They had about 5 children in Connecticut and 6 in NY.
I am primarily interested in Ira's parents.
Thanks
