There must be a typo here....anyone born in the 1500s could not marry in 1741 or have children in 1590. Also, wasn't it Mary Barker that John or Thomas married in Charles City, VA?
It would sure be wonderful to have a sure connection back to England, or even be sure which descendants came from which immigrant.
I have 2 or 3 Chappell lines in NC who more than likely came through Virginia, but have no proof. I hope this discussion continues!

I am interested in any information about the parents and children of Solomon Chappell of Glastonbury 1758-1829. He is buried in the Old Cemetery just outside of Hartford.
There is a church record in Glastonbury of a double wedding ceremony that took place on Nov 27, 1782 - Solomon Chappell married Abigail Bell and Lucy Chappell married Aaron Bell.
Does anyone know who the parents were of Lucy and Solomon? or the children of Solomon and Abigail?
Thank you

There was an earlier Hiram CHAPPELL in Onondaga Co., NY and also in CT. I do
not have time to search now as we are preparing for a genealogy trip in our

My 4 great grandfather was Hiram Chappell b. 1785 CT and m. Susan in NY.
They had children in NY: Israel P., Putnam, Hiram Edward 1812, and Eli D.
Chappell 1818. There was also a child named Amigal b. 1832.
This family moved to Pike County, IL around 1840 or before because Eli D.
Chappell was there on the 1840 census. Israel P., Putnam (maybe the same
person), Hiram Edward, and Eli D. all married in Pike Co., IL in the 1840s and were
on the 1850 census.
Eli D. Chappell moved on to MN and remained there. Some of the family,
including Hiram Edward Chappell may have moved with him but returned to Pike Co.,
IL before 1860.
Their mother, Susan died 1846 and is buried in Pike Co. Hiram and Amigal
were on the 1850 census living with Eli D. and never showed up again on Pike IL
census.
I don't have anything on the CT and NY part of their lives, but have the
Hiram Chappell line of descendants if anyone is interested.

I don't know how well versed one needs to be to solve your missing links, as
almost every major branch of the Chapel/Chappell family has members that
moved westward into New York, then on to PA, OH, and MI.
My own fuzzy link is caused by the fact that my branch of the family left
the old-line Pilgrim Congregational church and became Baptists. Since the
Congo church was the keeper of the vital records, they were removed from the
list. You can check to see that there are no CHAPPELL records on the books
from Hebron, CT for 29 years though the recorded deeds and other official
documentation indicates they were there. My line left Lebanon, CT in 1805
and moved into Otsego Co., NY, just south of Chenango. I know there was a
Marvin CHAPPELL there in the early 1800's and I believe he went to Oswego,
NY.
I have details of other CHAPPELLs that are not in my direct line that
migrated to Onondaga Co., NY near Syracuse. I probably have one of the
largest CHAPPELL databases around, but I still turn up co-lateral cousins
that are extremely hard to trace. I have bits and pieces on CHAPPELLs that
settled in Washington, Co., NY that I am trying to link into my records.
I see lots of queries on this forum that lack enough who, what, where, and
when to get started with an accurate search. The names are all too familiar,
and I'm sure they are handed down from generation to generation and are no
doubt co-lateral cousins to those I have but they remain mysteries. I think
other than to post queries here folks should post complete histories on what
they do have to help others. I have been watching this thread for a long
time and been a part of Roots-L almost since the beginning, and involved
since Karen put together the early lists at the Rand Corp. I think we need
to refine how we exchange info a little bit for the benefit of all those
watching. Scott, please feel free to send me a hard copy of what you have
and I will see if I can fit in any pieces to your puzzle, and I will gladly
share what I have on CHAPPELLs migrating from CT to NY.
Warm regards to all,
Joel in NH

Is anyone well versed on the CHAPPELL/CHAPEL's that
left CT for NY (and some later into Ontario)? There
are some CHAPPELL/CHAPEL's in the early-mid 1800's in
NY, and I've seen some 'far from solid' evidence that
suggests that at least one of these lines may descend
from the New London line. Wondering if anybody really
familiar with the CT lines knows of branches that left
CT for NY?
My research (and others researching my same line) have
dead-ended in NY for years, and we've always felt its
probable there is a connection to the CT CHAPPELL's,
but the trail disappears around 1790 somewhere in NY
(we're not absolutely positive where, but one source
suggests "Chenango".) Maybe if someone knows of lines
that left CT for NY, we can try to work backwards that
way.
