Hi Judy,
The Kings County, NS Township Book has the following:
David Chappel, son of Elezar & Rachel married to Patience Hewet, no parents given, 6 Feb 1777. No other mention of the Eleazer Chappell family that I have been able to find. I believe the History of Kings County has Eleazer listed as a land grantee at Horton Twp. I believe he also shows up in the 1770 Nova Scotia census.
Please contact me directly I'd like to discuss this further.

Hi,
The mention of Eleazar Chappell and Rachel Crocker caught my eye - others have traced my husband's ancestry to them but I dont know what their sources are.
I have fairly good evidence of the line back to Lebbeus Chappel born New London CT and died Onondaga NY, but have been unable to verify that Lebbeus is the son of Eleazar and Rachel.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you
Judy

Well finally did something right! Have you found any census or other records that place the Chappell & Barnaby families in close proximity at Lebanon, CT? I am pretty certian that at that time, 1785, the only Sarah Chappell in the province of Nova Scotia was the daughter of Jabez & Zipporah Chappell at Cumberland Twp.
I'm still trying to determine if Sarah's oldest brother Jabez Jr. remained in Cornwallis Twp., NS or returned to Ct. There was also another cousin in Horton Twp., NS by the name of Eleazer Chappell. He was a son of Nathanial Chappell, another son of Lt Caleb Chappell of Lebanon. Eleazer was married to yet another cousin, Rachel Crocker. I'll contact you by email, perhaps you have some insight on these individuals.

Tim,
Why don't you send me your mailing address and I'll copy and send the 4-5 pages with Barnaby-Chappell references in the Kings Co. Twp book.
The daughter of Noah & Abigail (?) Chappell in question is named Desire Chappell. The info I have states she was baptised on 23 Sep 1739, but gives no age or birth date.
The marriage of James Barnaby & Sarah Chappel is dated 19 Jan 1785, I can only assume it took place in NS. Under the list of children of Stephen & Deziah Barnaby there are Lydia, James, Abigail, Joseph, Martha, Catherine and Benjamin with birthdates but no reference to where.
From where are you referencing your information? Some of what I have came from the Lebanon Historical Society, online records and the Kings Twp book.
Let me know if you want me to copy ssome of the info in the Twp book.
TTYL, Mark

The parents of Desiah Chappell is one of my brickwalls. I show her being born about 1732 in Lebanon, CT. Marrying Stephen Barnaby 5 Dec 1754 in Lebanon and after several children immigrating to Nova Scotia after Jan 1769 (her son Joseph was born in Conn.) and by Jun 1771 (her daughter Martha was born in NS). Their son James b: 8 Mar 1764 married Sarah Chappell daughter of Jabez and Zipporah. I show the marriage occuring 19 Jan 1785. Some records show the marriage taking place in Lebanon, CT. I think this is questionable because 1) both families would have had to return to CT from Nova Scotia and 2) there was a Revolutionary War going on at the time and I think such travel was doubtful. Do your records show it as happening in NS?
A 1739 date as a birthdate for Desiah seems unlikely because that would have made her only 15 when she married. Not impossible but unlikely. Or the daughter that was baptized could have been several years old at the time. Also not impossible.

Hi Tim, I'd be happy to share info. I too have been trying to link the Kings Co. NS, Chappell's to Jabez Chappell his son Eliphalet who settled in Cumberland Co., NS
I have the King's Co. TWP book and there are a few references to the Barnaby-Chappell connection. Stephen Barnaby appears to be married to Deziah ?. Their son James marries Sarah Chappel (no parents listed) on 19 Jan 1785. Hebron, Ct VR's Vol. 2 Pg. 155 records a daughter of Jabez & Zipporah Chappel, Sarah, born 12 Jun 1757.
On 23 Sep. 1739 a daughter of Noah Chappell(S/o Caleb & Ruth (Royce)Chappel) was among 8 children baptized at the Goshen Cong. Church. She would have been born between 1735-39. Could she be the Deziah Chappel that married Stephen Barnaby? Email me directly if you want.

Hello List
I was wondering about name "Huldah" as seems to me
only used by Chappell families. "Gulielmus " was said
