Harrison Calvin Chappell and Susanah Money are the Grandparents of my Grandmother, Minnie Bell Chappell. Minnie's parents were William Chappell and Mary Poly Cockerham. Minnie and Rufus Nichols were the parents of my mother, Laura Mae Nichols. Does anyone have any information on Minnie Bell Chappell. I will gladly share what information I have on this family. Please contact me at allen(a)dumas.com. Allen
Greetings,
I have vols. 1 and 2 of George Calvin Waldreps "Halifax County (Virginia)
Cemeteries."
These 2 vols. contain the names and locations of over 300 cemeteries located
in Halifax County Virginia.
The books contain inscriptions from gravestones found in these 300 plus
graveyards. Information containing surname, given name, date of birth, date of
death, etc. was copied from the graves.
Mr. Waldrep stated in Vol. 2 that he had info on about 80 more cemeteries in
Halifax Co., that he did not get to cover, so these two books do not cover all
cemeteries in Halifax Co Va.------------------------------------
I also have a booklet :"Tombstone Inscriptions taken from Private Cemeteries
In Halifax County, Virginia vol. 1" Compiled by Kenneth Harvey Cook. The date
on the booklet is November 1969.
The booklet is 40 pages long, and contains info on about 54 cemeteries.
The cemeteries tend to be small.
In this booklet, I found about 9 cemeteries not covered in George Calvin
Waldreb IIIs "Halifax Co. (VA) Cemeteries" books.
Also included in my file, is info from about 800 Afro-American Obits from
Halifax Co., VA. which I copied.
I will do surname lookups.
In order to not clog up this list for those not interested, I will not answer
requests posted to this list.
Please, send your requests to me at:

Hello, all!
With the advent of pretty spring weather or pretty autumn weather, depending
on which hemisphere you're located, lots of family reunions are bound to be
taking place in the upcoming months. I'd encourage you to post info about
such functions related to our surname. One thing to remember, however, is
that you may not refer to any costs or price of attending. Let us know
where, when, and any activities that may be planned, and then give us an
e-mail address for more information, or if there is a website set up for the
reunion, include the URL so we can find out more, plan to attend and meet up
with long-lost cousins and share information!

The Chappell I would like to talk to is Nicholas Chappell and wife Lucy Wood. Their children I have found so far are William, Oscar and Asa W (my great-grandfather). I found Nicholas's will filled in Jan 1851 in which he states above children and wife. On Asa's death certificate it states that both Nicholas and Lucy were born in Cherry Valley, NY. Other than above information, I am at a dead-end.
The following Chaples were listed in the 1799 Land tax records and 1800
personal tax records of Prince George county, Virginia. Again, I have no
idea what the listings mean or what the numbers represent.

I came across some Chappell info in Prince George County, Virginia. Not
sure if it's my line or not, but wanted to post it here in case it helps
another researcher.
A Will dated 10 January 1713 for Sam CHAPOLE
A deed dated 12 July 1712 from John CHAPPELL to John LANYER for 130 acres
formerly belonging to John's father
Thomas CHAPPELL.
A deed dated 7 March 1711 to Thomas CHAPPELL from Raize NEWHOUSE for 1050
acres.
A deed from Thomas CHAPPELL to John SCOTT for100 acres, originally part of a
patent dated
12 November 1693.
A deed dated 7 July 1712 from Thomas CHAPPELL to Philip BURROW and wife
Bethyor for 200 acres, originally part of a patent for 1050 acres granted to
Thomas NEWHOUSE.
I figure some of these fellas are in my line as there were quite a few
Bannister documents to found in this county, too.
Happy Hunting!!

I'd invite James Chappell, husband of Martha Wooding, to the Spring Fling!
I'd ask him if his parents names were really James Chappell and Prudence and if he happened to know who his grandparents really were. I'd ask him if he knew anything about his son-in-law Michael Ashford's family. Then I'd ask if he and Martha ever received their inheritance from Martha's father, Robert Wooding.
Hugs,
Juli
Hi Juli
thanks it sounds a great idea.
My ancestor I would like to invite is Edward Chappel(l). He is the most
interesting one and the most infuriating one as well.
He was a cabinet maker in Bath Somerset. But at one time he was in
Westminster because he had a son there. Why? Why did he return to Bath? And where did
he go after 1841 with his family? Unfortunately he came from nowhere and
disappeared to nowhere.
I really would like a chat with him.
Once again thanks Juli
Sally
Hi all!
One of the Mailing Lists I subscribe to recently held a virtual "Spring Fling" party, and I thought it was a wonderful idea to help get that genealogy research up and going with the new season!
"Invite" the CHAPPELL ancestor you'd most like to talk with. Tell us why you chose them and perhaps some of the questions you'd ask them.
Have fun!
