Karen,
I have a little information on John Wesley Chappell and Vinie Burns Chappell. They had several children. Edward, John Daniel, Miriam, Doris, and Faye. Faye married Cubee Turner.
If this rings bells, contact me and I will give you as much information as I have.

I understand that correcting or adding to genealogies is what keeps us all going. But reproducing _any_ work in its entirety word-for-word, published or unpublished, constitutes copyright infringement. Portions of Eugene's work can be quoted under the "fair use" rule, but the _entire_ work cannot be posted in a public forum, such as this one.
Mike Goad, a copyright expert who regularly contributes to the COPYRIGHT-L mailing list, states that "Copyright protection for a work begins when the work is fixed in some sort of "tangible form." This include[s] writing, typing to paper, and saving it on a computer."
Quoting Mike's comment as I have done is an example of "fair use." To reproduce his entire post would be copyright infringement. The COPYRIGHT-L Mailing List is a great source of help to anyone wishing to know more about copyright and genealogy. Anyone can search the archives by keyword at http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl or by date at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index.
Happy hunting!

This genealogy is copied on Eugene's work stationary. I don't think it was
ever in book form. Last Page. Last Paragraph. It has been somewhat difficult
to collect data, owing to so many years having elapsed, and the record is
imperfect and incomplete, but it's a sincere attempt to put into print a reasonably
correct synopsis of the family, I trust all errors and omissions will be
corrected and excused. NY. May 1915. I do think he had in mind it could be
added to or any incorrectness corrected.

The way it came to me is 30 pages held together with a paper clip. I have
read where its in a libary somewhere. It's title is American ancestry of the
"CHAPEL" and kindred familys of...New England. It starts aprox 1630s and goes to
aprox 1915 when he finished it.
Wow, I'd love to take a look at something like that.
Is there a source that can provide copies, or steer me
in the right direction to find it? (I did a search on
the internet, but didn't find it). I'd be happy to
pay for the photocopy/mailing expense if anybody has
it. Thanks.

My Samuel appears to have been born sometime between
1792 and 1795 in NY. He apparently never wanted any
of his descendants to find out much about him either!

Seeking descendants of Louis Gatien Le Breton des Chapelles, the son of Louis Césaire Le Bretton (1711-1776), Chief Secretary of the Marine at Louisiana, later member of the Superior Council of Louisiana and after his return to France royal councilor at the Cour des Monnaies of Paris.
Among his numerous relatives were Gayarre, the early historian of Louisiana, Professor Fortier, and governors Derbigny, O'Reilly and Estebán Miró. A niece of the émigré Louis Gatien was married to François Xavier Delfau de Pontalba whose daughter-in-law, the baroness de Pontalba née Almonester, erected the famous Pontalba buildings at New Orleans and a palace in Paris which is now used as the seat of the American embassy.
Thanks!

Thanks for the info Steve! I don't see a connection,
but maybe there will be a tie-in that I'll trip over
as I keep researching. I plan to order my Samuel

parents. Very thorough list!

I forgot to mention the war soldier. Asenath was the daughter of Col. Samuel
Blakeslie and Phebe Curtis. Samuel was a soldier or the Revolution and Col.
in the war of 1812 at Buffalo and Black Rock, NY. Could this be the soldier you
were talking about.
The way the book entry was worded, I think I assumed
Blakeslie was the first name of a Blakeslie
CHAPEL...now I realize it was on the maternal line.
Out of curiosity, do you have the info on this Samuel
Chapel's siblings? Thanks!

This Samuel's parents were Seth and Asenath (Blakeslie) Chapel of South
Sandisfield , Mass. Seth was the 3rd son of Richard and Grace of New London Conn.
I stumbled across this link while searching for Chapel
ancestors, and wondered if anybody connected to, or
had any info on this CHAPEL family:
http://www.usgennet.org/usa/mi/county/tuscola/book/book196-199.htm
Earlier I had reason to believe the Samuel mentioned
was the father of my Penelope CHAPEL (born about 1818
in either NY or Ontario), but I don't see her listed
as one of his children (unless she is one of the two
already deceased...which is possible since she died in
1887, but I also didn't have this Amanda as her
mother).
The evidence that led me to believe this Samuel was
her father:
Penelope came from either NY or Ontario, to Michigan.
A witness to her wedding is a Samuel Chapel. Penelope
married Fred Pace. Fred Pace came to the same area of
Oakland Co, MI as mentioned with this Samuel Chapel.
Penelope's first child was named Samuel (after her
father?) A Samuel Chapel moved to Racine, WI in the
same area as Fred Pace and Penelope Chapel (must be
SOME connection). This Samuel is born about 1795 in
NY to parents from CT (according to Census info). If
Samuel Chapel wasn't Penelope's father, he might have
been an uncle or a MUCH older brother.
I'm also intrigued by this Blakesley or Blakeslee
Chapel that is mentioned as a Rev. War Soldier. Does
anybody have any info on him? I can't find a thing no
matter where I search. Thanks.
Scott
