I am interested in corresponding with anyone researching the Bevill family in
Amelia Co., VA (1700s). I am particularly interested in any intermarriage
between the Bevill and Chappell families. Your response is appreciated.

Kathey, my Drury was married at least once before he married my gggrandmother late in his life. I know he had several children and there were indications that he was Cherokee, but I have never found any confirmation. Decendents later filed for government moneys but were rejected. I know there was a Martha, and an Amanda I will have to pull my records to see my list of names. I will see what I can find on Joseph or Tom. margie

Descendants of Drury Chappell
Generation No. 1
1. DRURY1 CHAPPELL was born 1783 in North Carolina, and died 1858 in
Tennessee. He married (1) Sally Sexton. 1802 in Wakely, North Carolina,
daughter of JOHN SEXTON and MARY ORSBY. He married (2) Rebecca Henry.
Notes for DRURY CHAPPELL:
Drury Chappell emigrated into Hickman County between 1820 and 1830, from
Wake County, North Carolina. He was accompanied by his family and he is
believed to have been a widower at that time.. With him also were brothers,
Ancel, Eli, and his married son John Elmore and wife Lucy Howell Chappell,
and daughter Sarena Chappell, who married James Booker.
Little can be found from North Carolina records, other than reconstructed
tax list of 1820 for Wake County, which lists Drury as well as Ancel and
Eli...According to these records we place Drury at age 47 when he came to
Hickman County, being born at about 1783
Drury married Rebecca Henry on 5th of August, 1840. She was widow with one
son, Walker Blackwood. The ceremony was performed by William White J.P.
Rebecca was 37 years old.. At this time Drury was living on the adjacent
farm next to James Booker. James was married to Sarena Chappell daughter of
Drury. This particular property was still in the Chappell family as late as
1970's, owned and occupied by the Aline Chappell Myatt family, having
descended through the hands of John Elmore, Joseph, and Herman Chappell.
The 1850 Census is the last appearance of Drury Chappell...Wife Rebecca and
children disappeared, which is probably do to a remarriage...

instead. My grandmother, Ollie, married Golden Cornealous Alley of
Nashville, a railroad employee, just after WW1. Mother was born in 1920
(Sept 13) and her sister Lillian came afterwards. Both of them are still
alive, tho mother is no longer aware of anything, due to stroke dementia. My
Aunt Lillian lives in Nashville.
Up until now we only knew of one Booker relative in Bon Aqua who could still
be interviewed, Carl Booker. Everytime, I 've tried to contact him, he
hasn't been home.

Could you please post the list of Drury Chappell's children? Also, I am
trying to determine if Levi could have been a brother to Drury and if Eli
Chappell could have been a son to either one of them. Thank you, Jackie

My grandfather was Earl Egbert Chappell. My great grandfather was Silas Walton Chappell. I am just getting started with this. My cousin Stephen Clayton Gordon (mother Jean Chappell) said there are alot of Chappells in Elizabeth City. I guess I am trying to find out who they are. Also I have info back to Silas Chappell (great great grandfather) and Elizabeth Copeland (great great grandmother) but not any farther back than that except for Capt. John Chappell on the Speedwell in 1635. My father was Harvey E. Chappell.
