Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Greetings listers
Some people are unaware how to unsubscribe or post messages.
please read your confirmation email carefully. It's clearly written
about this.
To post a message send it to:
(list name)-l(a)rootsweb.com
Do not include the (REQUEST) part which should only be used when
joining or leaving the list. Messages sent using the request part bounce
as the server thinks your requesting to join or leave the list but
incorrectly.
Also please remember to put in a subject line. Some members use
Digest mode and a subject title gives Digest users an idea of what the
message is about.
Make sure you click on the new mail icon in your email software. Not
reply from a previous message posted to the list.
If you are joining or leaving a list post as below:
To: (list name)-l-request(a)rootsweb.com
Subject: (subscribe) or (unsubscribe)
AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE.
The main cause of problems unsubscribing are people using the
incorrect address. Do not use reply from a posted message.
This may unsubscribe the message poster instead of yourself. Turn
off taglines and signature attachments. These taglines/signatures
can result in your request to unsubscribe being rejected by the server.
The second main cause of problems unsubscribing are people putting in
unnecessary information. eg please remove me from the list as I'm
going on a short holiday to Brazil for 10 days then put me back on.
This will likely result in your email address staying on the list.
Happy Hunting all

Looking for information and descendants of the Charles E. Chappell who married Sarah Edwards Partelo. Sarah was the eldest sister of my great grandfather Crawford Partelo. Sarah was born 1 Jun 1861 Rhode Island and died 23 Jan 1933. Any information appreciated. Thank you.
My third great grandmother, the wife of Thomas Chappell, died in Pope County,
IL about 1845. Three of their children married into the Hazel family of the
same county. This couple was the parents of Jesse Mordeciah Chappell, who
later migrated to Sullivan CO, MO. I have been unable to find anything to
even suggest her given name let alone her family name. Any help or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thomas married 2nd Sarah R. Young and they had at least one child, a
daughter, Veronica.
Thanks in advance,
Virgle L. Chappell, Vchapp(a)aol.com

Greetings List
Just to inform you all I am now your new List Admin.
I have been admin for the Chapple and Chappel email lists
for some time.
My function is to keep the list on topic, assist with subscribing
and unsubscribing issues, And detail the list rules.
These include the following.
1 Messages posted should be about Chappell/Chapple/Chappel
etc family research, where they lived, time frame you are
interested in, type of work they did, where buried, homes and
businesses owned etc.The more detail you post the more
likely you have a positive reply. Full name, dates and
unabreviated area should always be given. These surname
lists are for worldwide interests and members may not
understand where you are referring to with Abbreviated areas.
2 Requests for living individuals on these lists are not permitted.
It breaches Privacy laws.
3 Information posted to lists from researchers remains their
research information with the understanding that information
is for private research purposes to share in private form. You
need to get a message senders permission to use their info
in published form under copyright laws.
4 Flaming (abusing people) on the email lists will not be tolerated
and will result in removal from the list.
5. I am not here to carry out other people's research. I have
210 family lines of my own I'm researching, as well as being
webmaster for the Dorset Parish Transcriptions website and list
admin for other lists.
6 If your email address bounces messages four times the server
will automaticly remove you from the list. But I prefer if you are
changing ISP's etc you unsub first. I have to deal with bounces
and it's time consuming. Most are because a webmail inbox is
full or subscribers email addresses are no longer valid.
7 You may notice New Taglines have been added to the list.
Suggestions for others welcome.
8 Only plain text messages are recieved by the list, html,
attachments and advertising are not permitted to be sent
to the list and normally are bounced.
9 Please dont post virus alert messages to the list. It's up to
subscribers to keep up to date with virus software. Viruses
are unlikely to come via Rootsweb because of the Plain
Text only formate permitted for messages. Some viruses
respond to the address of the sender to the list from an
infected member not via Rootsweb.
10 Have fun researching your family history.
regards

I am Beatrice's daughter. I don't know much about tracing the family tree but was poking around in here and your message interested me. Frank was married to our grandmother, Beatrice Menolt Chase first. They divorced in approximately 1923 and Beatrice remarried Harry Moone a few years later. Gertrude did live with Frank subsequently but I only saw her myself a few times in my life and did not see Frank much either. He did run a meat market in Providence during the depression and I may be able to dig up some more information.

I am trying to fit Jane A. Chappell into my family
tree. She is buried with some of my Chappell
family in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saginaw, Michigan.
Chappell would be her married name. She was
b. 1852 and d. 1926. Any help would be appreciated.

Elizabeth CHAPPELL-INSCORE married
John Henry LADD in Wake County, NC
in 1832. She was the daughter of Ancil
CHAPPELL , 1782-Wake Co, NC,,and
Dorcas COLEMAN-1793, Wake Co, NC.
They were married there in 1813. They
migrated to Hickman County, Tennessee
between 1835-1838.
I have just found Elizabeth in the 1880
Hickman County census, as B.L. CHAPPELL,
age 67, mother of Hanse aka Hansell
CHAPPELL. I believe that would stand
for Betty Lizabeth, as a nickname.......does
anyone think I'm reaching too far??? The
age agrees perfectly with her yob of 1812-
1813<<<<
Comments gladly welcome!!
Thankful regards,
Mike in CA

I had been working to try to find out some more information on Zanie Chappell, who was born in TN about 1886. She was the first wife of John Phillips Alexander, (b. 1882) in TN.
I've been pouring over the census records, and this is what I've COME to believe, but haven't found anyone yet who can prove or disprove it:
In briefly looking at info on the Chappells in TN, it seems that Drury & Ansell (Hansell) Chappell were brothers, who came from Wake Co.,NC to Hickman Co., TN...is that correct? Does anyone have a date of birth on Ansell? From what I've found posted on this forum, Drury was born abt 1778.
This Hansel/Ansel that I'm finding must have been a son of either Ansell or Drury...any one know?
