Don't know if there is a connection here, but the possiblities are interesting. Clayborn R. Hooper married Mary A. Story and moved to Magazine Mountain, Logan Co., Arkansas where the daughter Caldonais Hooper was born. She (after becoming a Dr.) married Henry Harrison Chappell. The Chappells were part of a large family in the Yell county area of NW, Ar. These are my great-grandparents. Many of the family migrated to first Oklahoma, then Texas and Louisiana. Just thought the connect to"Clayborn Hooper" and "Chappell" was a possiblity.

How sure are you of the names? I have info on Rueben Rance Chappell (Maybe the called him Rand?). He had sisters that married into the Adkinson family. They were born in Northwest Arkansas, moved later to Oklahoma, then to Texas, with many of the offspring settling finally in the Texas/Louisiana border area.

I have some of what you may be looking for...however some of the information is different from what you have. Harrison Chappell and Susanah Money Chappell had a duaghter, the 8TH child, named Judith Melissa who was born in Trap Hill, Wilkes Co., NC in 1852 and later moved to Logan Co., Ark., then on to Yell Co. Ar. Another possible tie in..her closest brother, Thomas Martin Chappell married a "Mary Ellen Green" possible sister of Robert Green(?).
Also, Henry Harrison Chappell (Son of Harrison) Married Dr. Caldona Hooper and their eldest Daughter was born 10/1876 in Logan Co., Ar and the only name I have for her is Carrie. I have her death listed as 1941.
Any further information, feel free to contact me.

The only "Sally" I have anything on, but very well could b what you need, is a "Sally Smith" who married Charles Houston Chappell. Through divorce or death of the husband, she possibly could have married a second time, as many did in that area/family/era. The Arkansas connection would tend to make me believe this would be a path to explore.

My Susannah Chappell was born somewhere in the vicinity of MD/PA. She married Michael Horine in about 1779-80 and they migrated to VA/NC and on to Kentucky. They lived in KY in Lincoln County for several years and finally left for Jefferson County, MO in about 1802. Michael died in 1810 in MO. I have no information about Susannah at all EXCEPT for her whereabouts (at least within a state or two) when she married Michael who I know was in MD/PA when he landed in this country from Germany. He landed in Baltimore in 1770. Can you offer any further information on the people you mentioned as having lived in the same area? Please contact me through e-mail at cecile1946(a)charter.net. I am interested in your message because you mention the pre-Revolution era and your family's migration to the VA/DC area. I am searching for the family of one Susannah Chappell who married Michael Horine. He arrived in the Baltimore area with his brother, Joseph, and two sisters; stayed a year and then went to PA, married (about that time, apparently) and began migrating. He arrived in 1770; he married Susannah (don't know where or when) and she was born in 175?; don't know where. They worked their way down through VA and NC and ended up in Kentucky in Lincoln County where they stayed until 1802 when he moved his entire clan to Missouri. Michael died in 1810 in Jefferson County, Missouri. Michael's son, John Horine, married a woman named Elizabeth Shoemaker who was born in Kentucky....that is absolutely all I know about her...think her father MIGHT have been Leonard C. Shoemaker of Lincoln County, Kentucky...settled there to buy land (according to the survey date) Nove!
mber 9, 1798. Do you think there might be a connection? Been futzing around with the Chappells/Shoemakers for years!! Please contact me at cecile1946(a)charter.net. Bev Smith

I am interested in your posting because my ancestor, Michael Horine married a woman named Susannah Chappell and, with her and the kids, moved to Lincoln County, Kentucky. They remained there until 1802 when he moved them all to Jefferson County, Missouri where he died in 1810. I know absolutely nothing about Susannah other than her name, but as families seemed to travel in groups, it is not unlikely that one or two of Susannah's brothers might have moved to Kentucky with the Horine family. Do you have more information?
