Has anyone out there collected any information on William Chappel b. 8-26-1744 and married to Eunice Calkins and/or Stephen Chappel(birth and death dates unknown) both sons of Richard Chappel(1719 - 1798) and Jemina Comstock ?
Thanks,
Joy
Hi all you "Unrelated Cousins",
We have a Joel Chappell who was born about 1775. Where? We don't know. Supposedly he came from England to Wales. There he married a Welsh girl, Mary Jenkins and they had 6 children. He died 12 April 1831 in Seaside, Glamorgan, Wales.
Can anyone find a Joel in their family?
Thanks,
Jeanne
I found your message interesting because my wife's grandfather is listed in
the 1900 Census as William Henry Chapple and I assumed it was the enumerator
writing his name by sound alone and that may still be true. The Census
states that he and his parents were born in Michigan but I haven't been able
to get to anyone there. He was born in March 1870.
How close to Midland, Ontario is Michigan? I guess distance does not make
any difference because William Henry migrated to Maryland and married there.
I don't know where his birthplace is in Michigan. In the 1910 Census he is
listed as Chappell. In the 1920 Census, he is gone and his wife is listed
as Chappell. My wife and all of her relatives are Chappell.
If you can shed any light on this, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks,

Hi Fred
You'll see from my further email that there are limited links between us
with the information we've exchanged. You'll see though, that there is the
name of William within my family so there would be a slim chance of your
William (1827ish) being a decendant of my William (1730). We'd have to
trace my William's decendants through the Dorset parish records along with
his siblings. I'm planning to do that some time, but won't be able to get
to it for a while (I live in Wales). If you or any one else can do that
then let me know how you get on.
I haven't traced any links to High Cross, Hertford as yet, but will let you
know if this happens.
Best wishes
Mark

Hello Fred
Have you looked for details as to place of birth For William and Susan etc
on the 1851 census? Since you have the (b) birth certificates for the
children?
or (Bp) Baptism dates from the High Cross Parish register? you should be
able to
match up a census entry reasonably easily.
With details from the 1851/1861/1871 census with place of origin for William
and Susan
you should be able to find which Parish records they are most likely in. NB
Birth
Certificates only started after 1837. Have you searched the GRO (many
researchers refer
to as St Catherines)Indexes for the marriage of William and Susan in
Hertfordshire circa
1844-1846? which you should gain before trying to find their circa 1827
baptisms. Parents
names listed on the marriage cert can then be cross referenced with the
Parish baptism
entries for parents names.
Ideally following the proper research procedure working back from the known
to the unknown
we purchase all Certficates we can starting from now and working backwards
to the 1837
introduction of certificates. Crosschecking against the Parish register and
Census records
to confirm using three we have the correct family through original source
documents.
Pre 1837 is far harder due to reliance on just the Parish registers, with
limited supporting documents from the Parish Chest records, some old family
bibles if they have survived, tax,
land etc records and if lucky a early mention in one of the local
newspapers.

How are your relatives tied into John Daniel Chappell who married Sarah Slaughter? John Daniel was my father's grandfather's brother. John and Sarah also lived in Orleans, Ne. My father was raised in Missouri and I was raised in Fremont, Ne.
I have quite a bit of information on John Daniel's ancestors but I am looking for additional information on maiden names for women ancestors. Let me know if this is the same family.
Thanks,
Linda
Hello there !
I've just found this list and thought I'd post my interests. I'm a
decendent of Christopher CHAPPELL born 1840 in Cattistock, Dorset. I have
quite a bit of detail from there forward. I also have records of four
generations back from there, all based in the parish of Frampton, Dorset.
I'm trying to find out about the parents of Thomas CHAPPELL born 1722 in
Frampton. Their names were Robert and Amy. They had six other children in
Frampton: John 1724, Mary 1727, William 1730, Amy 1732, Elizabeth 1734,
Sarah 1737. Where did they come from ? How can I find them ?
If anyone can help or suggest then I'd be really grateful. Alternatively,
if I can help in any way then just say.
Also, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has a CHAPPELL interest in
Dorset (even if we can't link).
Best wishes
Mark Chappell
Hello Listers
Please remember this is a worldwide surname list, and requests are welcome
for those researching Chappell/Chappel/Chapelle/Chapel etc
Worldwide not just for US descendants. On this list Northern can mean
Northern Hemisphere. UK, Europe, Asia, North America etc Southern can mean
Southern Hemisphere covering South America, Australia, New Zealand, South
Africa wherever Chappell or variant named people occur.
It is that time of the year again when New Viruses Proliferate. Keep
your virus scanning software up-to-date and be vigilant. Dont open
attachments you're not expecting. Regularly save your email pst and document
files etc. I speak from experience having twice had viruses slip past my
scanning software to lock out and corrupt my computer. Recovering files and
reinstalling software after a reformat is very time consuming and for those
who may need expert help to do this
it can be costly as well.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and safe and Happy New Year
in 2003.

Hello there,
Are you the son of Mary Schappell & William Ahner Sr. ?
Could it be that you have two brothers by the names
(Milton Ahner) & (Woodrow Ahner) ? Is your grandfathers name (Asaby T. Schappell) and your grandmothers name
(Mary A-E Schappell)? If so Bingo !!
My John Chappell was from Md. and enlisted in the rw in N.J. according to
accounts-then after the war m. in Va and later moved to Henry and Trimble
Co. Ky., right on the Ohio river. You might look there. He had a son
George who died as an infant. Roslyn
Cousin Darcy:
I'm sending you my updated CHAPPELL file with 5 generations starting with
George in MD. Bob Cawley still insists that he saw a citation in a book in
the Library of Congress that showed George left James and Mary in the care of
Mary Thompson in Harford County, MD. She obviously was not a relative as I
first guessed, but just a trusted church member! Bob doesn't remember if it
was a will abstract or a record of church business affairs, only that the
book binding was red. I have had the reference librarian there go through
the Maryland bookshelves and check indexes for George Chappell, to no avail.
She tells me that red is the color they use for re-binding worn books, so
there are scores of them to be checked..
I find George and Nancy obtained land in Surry County NC so I'm confused
about when or where he died! I have received later info from another
researcher telling me that James' first wife was Nancy Matthews, a
full-blooded Cherokee Indian! So far I haven't been able to get a will,
marriage bond or license, or anything else to prove it...
Anyway, I've added a lot to James descendants and I'm still trying to get
details on George! Please let me know if you ever do...I just wish I lived
nearby so I could spend a day or two in the Library of Congress... It appears
Bob is not going back...
Have a blessed Christmas!

Dear Chappell Cousins! HELP ME PLEASE!
I have been reading ALL the posts for the New England Chappell's & know how
many of you feel, that being not able to find your CHAPPELL roots! Due to
recent
emergency surgeries in my family I wasn't able to participate before now.
Thankfully,
life is getting back to a slower pace now so, here goes:
For well over 5 yrs I have been reseaching my GEORGE CHAPPELL line which
seems to start here in HARFORD CO. MARYLAND.
My ancestor, GEORGE CHAPPELL 'DOES NOT' fit in with either the New England or
Southern CHAPPELL branches from information others have gathered also
researching this particular GEORGE!
Does anyone have a 'New England' or perhaps a 'Southern' George CHAPPELL[E]
or other spelling, who may have strayed to Maryland in the middle 1700's?
Here's what I have thus far from 'various sources' not documented by me.
The numerical line of decent is my branch!

Hi
My biological father was Walter (Bud) Chappell. He would have been born approx 1925-29 in Toronto, Ontario. He married Mary Louise Helena Grant approx. 1948. They had three living daughters, Gail Louise, Barbara Joanne, and Connie Elaine. I know he was married at least one more time. I know three of his siblings were Gordon Chappell, William Chappell, and I think Aunt Dot (Dorothy?) was a Chappell. I think there might have been more sibs. Gordon Chappell married a Mary---and had 4 daughters. Three of them are Dale, Lynn and Susan. In 1958 they lived in Grand Valley, Ontario, Canada. Gord had red hair. William (Uncle Bill) was in the armed services in Canada. I believe that would be in the 1950's. He married sometime in the sixties. He had reddish hair. Aunt Dot's husband died in the summer of 1955 or 56 in the summer. She had a son Larry. He was born 1949 -51. My Grandparents owned a fish and chip store in Toronto. I do not remember the name. I can find Ch!
appells back to the 15the century but cannot find out by Grandparents names. Ma and Pa don't seem to be a big help! I have been looking into my mother's family and I wanted to find out about my paternal side. Without grandparents names, this seems nearly impossible. My mother died 18 years ago, so I cannot ask her any questions. We were not encouraged to ask questions when she was alive as it hurt my step-father when Bud's name was mentioned. I would like my kids to know where they came from, no matter what the journey. If anyone can help, I would be eternally gratefull. My sister and I are beginning to think we don't exist, but we must as we have birth certificates HaHa. My e-mail is meln1010(a)sprint.ca
Thanks for any help
Connie
