I am seeking information on Eugene Chappell (Chappel) who married Dora Adams of Virginia in about 1890. They primarily lived in the Louisville, Kentucky area. My understanding is that he was French and he had two sisters. After he and Dora divorced he supposedly went to Georgia.
Dora Adams (b. 1861 d. 1923) ran away from home and married a Native American Indian from Oklahoma and had a child abt.1888 named Mary. When she and Eugene married, he adopted Mary. Eugene and Dora had three more children: Edward, Deborah, and Effie Tylene (my grandmother). They were all born in Louisville, KY.
Any assistance in tracing back this arm of my family would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone,
It's time for me to write on the whereabouts of Joel Chappell, born abt 1775 and died 1831 in Seaside, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Am wondering if he had any siblings who came to the USA or Australia or anyplace else in the world. He was married to Mary Jenkins 27 Nov 1800 in Llanstephen, Carmarthenshire, Wales. She was the daughter of David Jenkins and was born 27 Jan 1776.
Their children were: Robert Henry Chappell, b 25 Oct 1801; Henry Chappell, b 6 Nov 1808 both in Llanstephan; Anne Chappell, b 31 Mar 1811; David Chappell, b 4 Dec 1814; Richard Chappell, b 2 Jun 1816; Mary Chappell, b 31 Jan 1819; Betsey Chappell, b 20 May 1821.
There are so many of us Chappells or descendants of them around, surely we can find a match. Found a great family last year, but need more relatives.
Jeanne

No sorry I was a Warren before marriage. My great grandmother was Edith Chappell married to Crawford Partelo. Edith was born in Westerly, Ri dau of Winfield Scott Partelo and Mary Townsend Sherman both of South Kingston, RI. Crawford was from Stonington so given the proximity there could still be a chance that our Chappells cross somehow but I've not done that much work on that line yet. :>)

Pat,
I've done a great deal of research on the Chappell's/Chappel's in Avon, Livingston County, NY in the early 1800's. One of the families that came to Avon Livingston County, NY around 1805 were four brother's-Daniel, John, Seth, and Richard Chappel sons of Richard and Grace Chappel of Sandisfield, Mass. About the same time brothers Enos and Edgecomb Chappell who were sons of Samuel and Dorothy Chappell of Sandisfield, Mass also arrived in Avon. While both of these Chappel and Chappell families were undoubtedly related somehow they are not closely related to each other until further down the line. There was also a William Chappel born about 1770 and died 2-12-1813 in Avon by the 1810 census but I have not been able to identify where he came from nor who his children were. Then there was my ggggrandmother Rachel Chappel who was the wife of David Johnson that arrived in Avon about 1808 from I believe Colebrook, CT which was located just over the state boarder from Sandisfi!
eld, Mass. My Rachel's parents and sibblings are my "brickwall" that I am still trying to uncover. On the 1810 census of Avon all of the Chappell's/Chappel's are listed as Chapel. By the middle 1800's, for the most part, records of Enos and Edgecomb's families in the Avon area are spelled Chappell and the families of Daniel, John, Seth, and Richard use Chapel or Chappel. Of coarse there are exceptions to that spelling but it mostly depended on how the person at the time of the writting chose to spell the name.
