Greetings,
I am aware that this is not genealogy, but this "glitch" threatens all the
time, work and love we have devoted to our ancestors. The "glitch" also might
allow someone access to data on our computers we don't want available to
anyone without our permission or knowledge.
I apologize to those not interested, I have no intention of posting anything
more on this subject.

In local newspaper
>From the Associated Press:
The FBI's top cyber-security unit warned consumers and corporations Friday
night to take new steps beyond those recommended by Microsoft Corp. to
protect against hackers who might try to attack major flaws discovered in the
newest version of Windows software.
The FBI's National Infrastructure Protection Center said that, in
addition to installing a free software fix offered by Microsoft on the
company's Web site, consumers and corporations using Windows XP should
disable the products "universal plug and play" features affected by the
glitches.
The FBI did not provide detailed instructions how to do this. Microsoft
considers disabling the "plug and play" features unnecessary. Etc, etc, etc.
Greetings,
Here is part of an Associated Press release I found in todays, Fri Dec
21 newspaper:
Microsoft's newest version of Windows, billed as the most secure ever,
contains several serious flaws that allow hackers to steal or destroy a
victim's data files across the Internet or implant rogue computer software.
The company released a free fix Thursday.
A Microsoft official acknowledge that the risk to consumers was unprecedented
because the glitches allow hackers to seize control of all Windows XP
operating system software without requiring a computer user to do anything
except connect to the Internet.
Microsoft made available on its Web Site a free fix for both home and
professional editions of Windows XP and urged consumers to install it
immediately.
Etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
Microsoft said a new feature of Windows XP, known as "drizzle," can
automatically download the free fix, which takes several minutes, and prompt
consumers to install it.

I was interested in the postings on Chappells in DeKalb and Gentry counties in Missouri. My ancestor, Elisha Chappell (1789 - 1856), lived in Surry County, N.C. He moved first to Arrow Rock in Saline County, Mo. and moved a few years later to Marshall, Mo. Elisha's son, Henry Lewis Chappell (1819 - 18780, moved to DeKalb County in 1860 and my great grandfather,Benjamin Franklin Chappell (1848 -1929) , lived in the Stanberry, Mo. area. His son, my grandfather is James A. Chappell 1877-and my father is Carl James Chappell. 1911 and just had his 90th birthday this October. Let me know if there is information to share. I have some pretty good documentation
