Seeking information on the sons of Jeremiah Chappell and Mary D.
Sisson of New London, CT in the mid-1800's. According to the 1860 census, they
had 4 sons; George (age 21), Charles (age 19), Franklin (age 4), and William
(age 3). William Chappell is my g-grandfather. I would like to contact the
descendants (if any) of George, Charles, and/or Franklin since we
share common lineage.
Rick Chappell
Internet: rchappel(a)us.ibm.com
My Chappell research goes back to Richard CHAPPELL who married
Elaeanor FERRIS in 1772. They had
Mary 30 Oct 1775(chr)
Jane -chr 13 Nov 1776,
William chr 8 Febr 1778, married Ruth, died May 1840
Richard and Francis. Both chr 30 Mar 1779
My line comes down from Richard Jr. I am very interested in any who
are from William or Francis as well as Mary and Jane. Mary married
Thomas RICHARDS in 1801 and had seven children.
Any connections?? I have my line from Richard on down complete save
for the LANYON connection so am looking for these "cousins" from the
other lines.

Hi Fellow CHAPELLE/CHAPPELL Searchers,
I'm not only new to the list, but new to "computer genealogy", so please
bear with me, if I do not do everything as I should. Also, feel free to
point out things I should or should not do.......constructive critique is
the way we learn.
I've been searching my CHAPELLE / CHAPPELL line for about 2 years, only
looking for the spelling C H A P P E L L, because that's the spelling
that I had found a bit of information for. A couple of days ago, however,
I was reviewing family papers that had been left by my great aunt, Flora
FAIN PERRY, & I came across a sentence that had been over looked before.
It said, " Dr. Gabriel H. C H A P E L L E , ( my GGG Grandfather, born
1808) had come from France, (date unknown) & ran a sanitorium in Chapelle
Hill either in or near Birmingham, Ala. This was pre Civil War time." Is
there a Chapelle Hill, Ala. or could that be Chapel Hill, Tn.?
He was married three times. His first wife's,(my GGG Grandmother) given
name was unknown, but her last name was said to be KERAN / KERON. I've
found this spelled two ways. His second wife was Pherley Ann McCORMICK,
married about 1845. Third wife was Catherine ?, married about 1857.
He had the following children:
1. Nancy Lethe CHAPELLE , b. 1833, married in 1853 to Dr. John Wesley FAIN
( My GG Grandparents)
2. Mollie CHAPELLE, b 1835
3. Lucy E. CHAPELLE, b. 1838
4. Camilla CHAPELLE b. 1840
5. G.C. CHAPELLE b. 1846
6. Sarah CHAPELLE,b. 1848
7. Gabrilla CHAPELLE, b. 1850
8. Mariah CHAPELLE, b. 1858
9. L.A. CHAPELLE, b. 1860
Found also in my great aunts papers were copies of census sheets:
1. Meriwether County, Ga. , date Nov. 13, 1840 , census takeer, Joseph B.
HEARD. Gabriel C H A P P E L L is listed as head of household, 1 M.
30-40, 1 F. B-5, 2 F. 5-10, 1 F. 20-30, & 1 F. 30-40

or district 59th, page # 319, house #194, family #194:

Mariah CHAPPELL, age 2, F., birthplace Ala.
L.A. CHAPPELL, age 7/12, F., birthplace Ala.
This is about the exent of my information on him. I would love to know
more about him & his first wife , last name KERAN or KERON. I'm really
hoping that the above information will ring a bell with someone on the
list. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated, & I will gladly try to
return the favor.
Sincerely,

Greetings,
I am an Afro-American in search of info.
My G-Grand parents were Peter and Allie/Alice Chappell of Halifax Co. Va.
Christopher Carlton a white slave owner died in 1824 (probably in King +
Queen County) Va. In his will Christopher willed to his daughter Polly
Carlton one Negro Esther and her future increase.
Dolly died July 7, 1858 without husband, or issue.
In Jan of 1859 the increase of "one Negro Ester", listed as
my g-grand mother Allie and her children Willis, Daniel(my grandfather ),
Eppa, George, and Henry. were bought by Joel Younger for the sum of $1,500.
This sum was paid to the surviving siblings of Polly Carlton, and to the
reps of her dead siblings.
Joel Younger had in fact had posession of Allie before he bought her in 1859,
because I found in Slave Birth Records, Allie giving birth to three of her
children, in 1853, 1855, and 1858, and the owner was listed as Joel Younger.
In the 1870 Census for Halifax Co Va, Peter aged 40y and Allie aged 35 were
found with the following children: Willis 20y. George, 15y, Henry 13y,
Peter 12y, Doctor 10y, Davis 9y, Bell 7y, Willy Ann 5y, Edward 3y, and
Horace 6mo. Daniel my gfather had married under the surname Younger and
was living with his wife Sue. When Sue married Daniel she listed her
surname as Stovall. The parents of Sue were Youngers. I suspect that Sue
had been sold to slave owner J.B. Stovall, in the home of which Daniel and
Sue were married.
In 1880 I again find Peter 50y, and Allie/Alice 50 y, with children Bell
18y, Willie 16, Doctor 20, Lee(Peter) 22y, Henry 23y, Eppy 24y, Edward
12y, Horace(Braxton) 11y, Milly 7y, and Corer 4y.
Other than the births of children to Allie in 1853, 1855 and 1858, and the
sale of she and her children, I found no other records whatsoever of Peter
or Allie before 1859, or after 1887. In 1887 Peter was listed as the
informant when Edward Chappell, one of his sons died of Consumption (T.B.)
I don't know yet where Peter the hubby of Allie came from, or how they wound
up with the name Chappell. Perhaps Joel Younger, who owned 35 slaves in
1860, bought Peter from a Chappell family.
Any help out there?
Larry

While looking through the Chappell archives I see that you are (or

Could you send it on to the list for me if you are still a member? I am
looking for Palmeters - one of which married a Chappell. I put a query

I saw your posting and thought I should contact you, even though I am not=

In the 1844 Chicago City Directory, page 28, there is the following entry=
:
"Chappel, Marvin, res American Temperance House"
And, on page 162, a paid advertisement:
"American Temperance House, by C. W. Cook, corner of Lake and Wabash

I do not know if this is a connection to your line, but thought I would
