Amy, get The New England Historical and Genealogical Register,
Volume 150, January 1996, Whole Number 597. pp 48-73. "George
Chappell of Windsor, Wethersfield, and New London, Connecticut.
by Gale Ion Harris.
I thought at one time that I might have links to George, and I
put all the names & dates and places into Family Origins, then
combined that with my Chapel (Chappell) database and made a
special report that compared the two. Unfortunately there were
no matches, even though both are replete with Jonathans, Johns
and Comstocks.
You may be interested in the Genealogy of my g-grandfather, William
Wallace CHAPEL on my web site:
www.frontiernet.net/~elburro
The name was Chappell when they were in Connecticut but changed to
Chapel when they emigrated to NY (Chenango County.)
I found the article on George quite interesting and have nodoubt you
will too.

Hi Chappell Cousins,
I've emailed back & forth with several of you about my CHAPPELL line, particularly my GGG Grandfather, Dr. Gabriel H. CHAPPELL. He was born in GA. I have found him in the 1840 & 50 Census of Meriwether GA., & in 1860 in Jefferson Co., AL. He was married three times, 1st to my GGG Grandmother, maiden name said to have been Keran/Keron, 2nd to Pherley Ann McCormick, & 3rd to Catherine, maiden name unknown. He had 9 daughters. My GG Grandmother was his 1st born, Nancy Lethe CHAPPELL FAIN, b. 1833, married Dr. John Wesley FAIN in 1853. In family notes found in my Grandfathers papers, it states that Gabriel either ran or owned a sanitorium in or near Birmingham about the time of the Civil War. It further stated that his place was in the path of Sherman's March to the Sea, & that all the family was able to save was some silverware.
My computer crashed a few weeks ago, taking with it some of the information that I was not able to save, along with the email addresses of some of the people I had exchanged information with on this list. If you are one of the ones I have talked with, please email me again.
Also, this is about the extent of my knowlege on him Can anyone shed any light on this line?
Thanks,
Robbie Taylor Read
