Alban Chappell, born 1802 in NY or PA, died 8 Apr 1898 in Sabula,
Jackson
Co., IA. married Sarah Ann Wilkinson in Jo Daviess Co., IL in 1842.
Does anyone have any information, *at all* about Alban Chappell?
In the Jo Daviess Co., IL land records I have found a reference to a
Seymour Chappell that arrived and was purchasing land in Jo Daviess
County
during the same time period that Alban was purchasing land. I have not
found him in census records, or any other records at all. Does anyone
know
about Seymour Chappell? Perhaps he is related to Alban?
I have also found, in the 1850 Jo Daviess, IL census, a reference to a
Damon Chappell. I know nothing further about Damon as he does not
appear
in any other Jo Daviess records that I can identify. Could he also be
related to Alban?
Children of Alban and Sarah Ann Wilkinson Chappell were:
Mary Jane, born abt 1842; mrd Johann Endriss in Jo Daviess Co.
William Arasmus, born abt 1845; left IL and rumored to have gone to
Canada
Martin Marion, mrd Julia McElroy 23 Nov 1876 in Clinton Co., IA
Annadelia, mrd Charles Parker, died in Rockford, IL; buried in Stocton,
Jo
Daviess Co.
Sarah Hellon
Emma Jacoba, mrd Wm Henry Wadleigh. Lived in Sabula, IA.

I have been searching for my grandfather for 25 years. My grandmother's
(Viola Jane
HEAD) obituary says his name was Alfred Benjamin CHAPPELL. They were
married 22 Aug 1915
in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas. My father did not remember his dad
who left the family while he was a baby. He had heard, however, that he
might have been from Arkansas. Dad had been told that after they were
married Alfred and Viola had moved back to Arkansas and he had an older
brother and sister that had died there as babies and they then returned
to Texas.
In searching census records in all of Arkansas for a possible match I
found an Alfred CHAPPELL (b. Feb 1897) born to R. B. CHAPPELL (b. Feb
1856, North Carolina) and Margaret (b. Oct 1865, Arkansas). Alfred was
the youngest of seven children (Henry b.1882, Eula P. b.1884, D. Edgar
b.1887, Minnie M. b.1890, Marvin b.1892, Agnes b.1895, and
Alfred b.1897).
Why this family is so interesting is that my father has an older sister
(Eula) and his name was Henry! Coincidence?
Does anyone have any information on R.B. CHAPPELL or any of his family?
I am looking for information about Mitchell S. Chappell, born 4-07=1820
in North Carolina, moved to Illinois in 1831, and to Missouri in 1850.
He settled in Clinton County near Stewartsville, in 1852 he married
Susan Evert. Mitchell died 4-17-1886 and was buried in the Lebanon
Baptist Church cemetery.
Any information regarding gggrandpa would be greatly appreciated. Send
same to Lyle Chappell <mom&pop(a)oz.sunflower.org>
thanks!
Byron Chappell was married to Ella Sargent and had ten children -
Louisa, Alfred, Loren, Edgar, Ernest, Verdine, George, Bernice, Bertha,
and infant. Louisa was born Jan 16, 1887 and married Philias Hamelin in
Potton, Quebec.
I'm looking for any information on the ancestry of Byron. Thanks in
advance.
I have been looking for any clue on my Grandfather Alfred Benjamin
CHAPPELL for 25 years. I do know he was married to Viola Jane HEAD
(b. 1886) on 22 Aug 1915 and lived in Texas (and possibly Arkansas) in
1920.
Could Byron's son Alfred be a match? Do you know anything about him?
Thanks,
Clinton CHAPPELL
