I am looking for any information on James Anderson Chappell that was
living in South Carolina in the mid 1800's to the early 1900's. The
only information I can provide is he was married to an Arzelia Aikens
and they had 4 children (known of). One son was born and name is Walter
Davis Chappell born on June 3, 1908 in Pickens County, South Carolina.
There where 3 daughters born but I do not know when or where.
I am looking for information about James Franklin Chappell b.1875 - d.1928
and his wife Ollie Osborne b.1875 -d.1947. They lived in Hemlock, NC (Ashe
County) and later moved to the Washington Co., VA area. They had 8 children.
I think they were all born in Ashe County. Does anyone know what happened
to the town of Hemlock? I can't find it on any recent maps.
Thanks,
Robin Brown Luhmann
Need information on Eli C. CHAPPELL, b 1 May 1850, NC, married Susan HASH (b
9 Mar 1852) in Fayette Co., Tn, 18 Jan 1874. They had 7 children while
still living in Fayette Co. I am trying to establish who Eli's parents are.
I had believed his parents were Rowland CHAPPELL and Lavenia BLAKE CHAPPELL
and a brother to Levi CHAPPELL, but have been unable to locate him on census
with parents. Rowland is listed in the index of the 1860 Montgomery Co., NC
census but unable to find him on the actual census. Any help would be
greatly appreciated as I have been researching this family for several years
with no succes. Eli and Susan moved to Oklahoma during the land rush and
resided there until their deaths. Would also be interested in hearing from
any descendants of Eli and Susan.
Thanks in advance for any help.

CHAPPELL, Elias >AR
To Gayle Cohen:
Gayle:
Elias or Ellis is one of our family names. Also our family split up and
several went to AR. My immediate family went to Barry Co, MO in 1853 which
is on the AR border. Several families here in OK are from the AR line, but I
have no stats on them.
I have James M Chappell (b-abt 1832, Bedford Co, TN) who married Mary Ann
Harris (Polly?) 8/12/1860 Pope Co, IL. They very well could have followed
the rest of the family to AR. James' father was Thomas B Chappell b-1793
Anderson Co, SC and d-3/31/1860 Pope Co, IL.
If this looks interesting, get back with me.
