Re: Any Prior Postings You May Have
Hello everyone! I'm new to this list and wondered if anyone
has kept copies of other postings. I've checked with Harold
Helm regarding archived material and he suggested I check back
in a month or so as they may be available then.
In the meantime, if you have any postings prior to Nov. 19,
1997 that you had the foresight to store and wouldn't mind
sending to me, I'd really appreciate it! It would be great
to be able to check them out! :)
I'm searching in Canada, U.S.A. and England

Hello, all! I'm seeking information on Margaret Chappell's ancestors. Below

Troup County, GA. She is buried in the Shiloh Baptist Cemetery.
Marriage is documented in the Troup County, Ga marriage book, p. 229

Am looking for information on a George Chappell (b. ca. 1814 in NY)
and his wife Cynthia (b. ca. 1824 in NY). They were living in Marion
Twp., Allen County, Ohio, in the 1860 census. They had the following
children: James L. (b. ca. 1837), George (b. ca. 1840), Edwin (b. ca. 1844),
Josephine (b. ca. 1847), and Enos (b. ca. 1853). I also believe (but
cannot prove) they had a daughter, Elizabeth Ann (b. 1831) who
married Andrew S. Johnson.
Any information on this family (including parents and siblings in New
York--possibly Clinton County, New York) would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
Patty

This is my first post, and I haven't received any as of yet to compare
message format to so I hope this is ok.
I descend from either a Stephen D. Chappel or his brother Jeremiah Chappel.
I descend from an Elizabeth Chappel b. 1808 in KY
sp. James McGregor they were married 1825 Hopkins
Co., KY
I have received two different accounts on making her the daugher of Stephan
D, Chappel and his sp Margaret Franklin or that she was the daughter of
Stephan's brother Jeremiah Chappel. They came from the Caldwell Co.or
Hopkins Co., area of Kentucky. Other Chappel's from this line married with
the McGregors in the Hopkins Co., KY area as well. Though both Jeremiah and
Stephen may have been married in KY, I have found no record of them being
from KY, infact they show up in the late 1700's out of no where and without
a clue where they came from. The only clue I have is there was a court
record which indicated that Jeremiah may have spoken a foreign language as
his first tongue (though this is speculation). There is no indication that
I can find to connect these two men to the southern branch of the Chappel
family, though they may have come from New England. Caleb Chappel is also a
name both Jeremiah and Stephen named their children.
Could anyone help me trace my Chappel's. I would also be interested in
information about the origin of the name.
Thank you.

Elizabeth Ann CHAPEL or CHAPPELL was born in Licking Co., Ohio July 5,
1831. She married Andrew S. JOHNSON in 1848 in Allen Co., Ohio. They
moved to Carroll Co., Missouri in 1869. Her husband died in a well
accident there in 1871. In 1873, Elizabeth Ann CHAPEL moved her family
to Johnson Co., Kansas, moved back to Missouri in 1875 and moved to
Greenwood Co., Kansas in 1880. She was considered a "pioneer mother" of
Greenwood County. She died there September 28, 1911.
Does anyone have information on her parents or brothers and sisters?
