Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, March 13, 1930, page 4:
Mrs. R.D. Collister passed away Thursday at her home on East Second street as the result of several strokes following an illness of long duration.
Mary Alice Chappel was born in Caledonia, Boon county, Illinois, Jan. 10, 1870, and died March 6, 1930 at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 26 days.
She was married to R.D. Collister, July 1st, 1888 and to this union were born two sons, William and Cail who with their father, wives and 2 grandchildren survive. One sister, Mrs. W.H. Sivyer and husband and a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn her departure.
She came to Kansas with her parents when 18 months old and has resided in this community ever since. She was a home loving woman and for the past nine years had been an invalid and patient sufferer and death was a relief to her poor tired and worn body.
Funeral services in charge of Rev. W.G. Carey were conducted at the L.B. Smith Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was made in Highland cemetery.

Words cannot express the thanks we want to extend to each and every one who so kindly helped us in the sickness and death of our wife, mother and sister and for all the beautiful flowers.
R.D. Collister, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Collister, Mr. and Mrs. Cail Collister, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Sivyer.
