Message Board Post:
Thanks to the Rootsweb Message Boards I have made
great strides forward in my search for the roots of my
grandchildren. Here is a brickwall -
Annie Nickerson or Nickason (not sure which) was born
March 30, 1859 in Ontario. She was the daughter of
either George NICKERSON or George NICKASON depending
on whose charts you believe. His wife was Matilda CHAPPEL
or MITILDA CHAPPLE, again depending on whose information
one relies on.
In all, ANNIE NICKERSON is the constant, she is the
established greatgrandmother of my daughter-in-law, but
the parents of Annie that's when the confusion starts.
The IGI Individual Record says:
Matilda CHAPPEL, birth about 1825, England,
spouse: George Nickason, marriage about 1846, England.
The IGI Individual Record says:
George NICKASON, birth abt. 1823, Wellington, Ontario.
while another Family Group record says:
George Nickason, b. abt.1820 England
Marriage Abt. 1846 England, to
Matilda CHAPPEL birth abt. 1825 England.
This Family Group sheet lists 7 children,
#5 is Annie, born 1859 Ontario
Interestingly, this sheet does not mention the first-born
George Nickason, b. 3.Nov.1849 in Wellington, Ontario.
whose father is listed as George Nickason..
I may be mistaken and there 'was' another George Nickason.
This is why I am a bit confused, and I sure hope that I did
not confuse you.
Any intelligent help is appreciated.
John Merz, Hamilton, Ontario.
