I have just located a branch of the Wicks-Joll family
in Juniat, Fermanagh, Pa. It looks most likely that your
line must be connected to it by marriage.
I located the family on the 1880 census, then using queries
located more information.
Edmund Price born about 1842 Wales md Emma Jane Joll born about 1844 in England. They had John M, Thomas F, Charles
E, Mary Ann, Emma J, Sarah on the 1880 census.
Charles Chappel borna bout 1830 Pa md Susan Joll born about
1849 England. They had William O 1864, Turner Joseph 1880,
Raymond, Charles, Turner, John, Harriet, Fannie, Mary Elizabeth.
Charles E. Price md Mary Jane Joll. Mary would have been
born in 1853 in England. From the information this family
had three children, William, 1885, Sally Cramer and Wareen
who was in W. Va.
I have information on them from England, but waiting for the
US material to arrive from a family member. My connection
is through the Wicks side of the family in England.
Greetings Listers
To one and all I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a
Safe and Happy New Year for you and your family in 2002.
Well it's been for the most part a rewarding year. In some cases
if and when time allows I have assisted listers further their
research. Have been impressed by members helping others with
research and in some cases surprised by how much help some
individuals give. To those fantastic people I for one very
much appreciate your efforts as I'm sure do many many others.
With most Family History Societies, Libraries and Archive Offices
closing around this time, it is an ideal time to repost your
family line as many new members are joining the lists. It appears
a number of youngsters with time off school as well as those on
holidays from work are joining numerious Rootsweb lists. Posting
Research Queries and requests for assistance may be answered
by new members or old ones who missed it the first time.
Many will or recently have experienced problems with viruses on
their computers. I would remind all to take the usual steps to
stay aware of new outbreaks. Keep your data backed up on floppy
or CD for those times when even updated Virus files fail to
prevent a virus attack. Those using various WEB Mail addresses
are usually better protected.
Using plain text rather than HTML format in your email software
is also helpful. Rootsweb Servers clean/ prevent Virus attack
by only allowing messages in Plain text format. No attachments
are permitted.
Please remember not to post Virus warnings to Rootsweb Email
lists. There are other forums to keep updated on virus
outbreaks and the Rootsweb lists are not ment for that
purpose. Be aware some virus notices are hoaxes such as the
dangerous SULFNBK.EXE remove file hoax.
Removing this Essential Microsoft file will corrupt your
software as badly as if it was infected and many get caught.
Wherever possible use the latest Virus software updates to
protect your system.
Most lists have some basic rules that need to be followed.
General nettiquette is to be followed such as replying in a
friendly manner, no flaming, no using all capitals which is
SHOUTING, no off topic list discussions, No commercial
postings - Rootsweb block most sending advertising messages
directly to the Administrator to check and most of the time
I spend a lot of time deleting them, to keep the lists free
of unwanted advertising. Next come all the ISP bounces I have
to check.
Below is part of Rootsweb Acceptable Use Policy for the Email lists.
RootsWeb exists to allow you to interact with other people who
share your interests. To provide you with the best possible
environment, we ask you to agree to the following before and
while using our facilities.
Have fun. Well, we can't require you to have fun, but we really
think you should.
You own your posts. When you post messages to mailing lists,
message boards, and other facilities at RootsWeb, those posts
remain your property under copyright law.
You are responsible for your posts. If you post anything that
results in RootsWeb being sued, you are responsible for any
costs you incur. We may also hold you responsible for any
costs we incur defending ourselves.
You should not decrease the enjoyment of others. Your posts
should not flame or otherwise harass other users and should
be reasonably on topic for the areas where they appear, and
you should otherwise adhere to the principles of netiquette.
Information about netiquette is available on many Internet
sites.
Commercial activities require permission. RootsWeb's intent
is to provide a friendly and, as much as possible,
noncommercial environment. Any activity that involves the
exchange of money requires prior permission from RootsWeb.
RootsWeb Resources may not be resold. No RootsWeb facilities
for example, Web sites, mailing lists, and message boards

individual or as permitted by Fair Use. Web sites housed at

By queries on the net, it appears that your Chappel-Joll
line is related to my line. As it appears that Susan Joll
is the daughter of Francis Joll and Emma Packin/Parkins.
Thus the son of Francis Joll and Susan Weeks/Wicks...this
is where my line starts to appear. Susan is a sibling I
believe to my family.
