Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
My great-greatgrandfather was CLEMENT CHANNING CHAPPELL (pronounced Sha'
ppell) born 1836 in Yaxley, Huntingdonshire, England.
His father was JOHN CHAPPELL, who was a Protestant Dissenting Minister.
Clement Channing Chappell was a cabinet maker, and married CAROLINE GAEDTKE
(born in Schwann, Mecklesburgh, Germany).
I have traced the movements of this family from the time of their marriage.
They finally settled in the Manchester area of England, and their
descendants can still be found in this area.
Two years ago, I found a message posted on a family history site from a man
called KEITH BENNET who said that he was a direct descendant of CLEMENT
CHANNING CHAPPELL, but when I tried to e mail him, the message was returned
unopened. I have made numerous attempts to find Mr. Bennet, but have had no
luck. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone out there? I would dearly
love to make contact with a connected Chappell.
Regards,
Anne Marie Lewis in England

G'Day Michael and a G'Day it is!!!!! Found my long lost Augustus right where you
said he would be and an American Civil War Veteran who left a pension for his

Hi Lorna
I'm not too familiar with the Society of Friends
religious group. I take it VA is Virginia, one of
the original 13 states.
If anyone on list is familiar with pre revolutionary
records that can provide advice or records sources.
I'm sure we would all like to hear them.

Thanks Susan
Look forward to your future postings.
I requested Augustus Chappel New York Census
1790-1890 and was given that their are two
entries but am not able to fully enter the
site. I don't have a credit card as I hate

Have moved Administration of Chappel list to

will quickly fill up otherwise.

Michael,
Welcome and thanks for introducing yourself. My earliest Chappel is George
E., born 1787 North Carolina, married Ailse ?, born 1797 in North Carolina.
They are my ggg great grandparents and are buried in Maple Grove/Olvey
Cemetery, Vernon Twp., Hancock County, Indiana. I have photos of their
gravestones (and others there) and a copy of the marriage license (12 October
1848, Hancock County, Indiana) of their daughter Nancy (b. 1826 Indiana) to
George Kingery (b. Nov. 1825 in Union County, Indiana).
I live in CA but get back home to Indiana a couple of times a year. I will
send copies of my photos to anyone who is working on this line. I have not
tried to follow it backwards yet but am interested. I do have more
information on the Kingery line.
Nancy
Hello Chappell Cousins
I'd like to introduce my CHAPPELL ancestors:
William CHAPPELL, born 1799, Metheringham, Lincs, the son of Thomas and Anne
and his son William CHAPPELL, born 1833 in Belleau, Lincs.
Delving on the IGI suggests that William senior may also have lived at
Nocton and Wrangle.
My great grandmother Sarah CHAPPELL (born in Trusthorpe, Lincs, in 1868),
was the daughter of William junior.
In the later 1800s some of the Chappells moved to Grimsby.
Is anyone else interested in the Lincolnshire Chappells?
Happy hunting
Susan (Lincoln)
My only Chappell ancestor is Rebecca, b. 1712, m. Peter BINFORD and d. 1782
in Prince George Co., VA. They were Quakers and I got this meager info.
from the Quaker Encyclopedia.

Greetings Chappel family researchers
I am the new List Administrator
Welcome reposting your Chappel family interests
I would like to get to know you all and hopefully
help you progress you research interests.
I am also adding this list to various websites
and Chappel contacts to expand on the current
membership of 40 subscribers. My first list for
Chant had 11 very quiet subscribers and now boasts
over 50 active members. With increased membership
and activity, distant cousins have been discovered
and great strides on some lines made.
Others lists are rapidly growing. I also am list
admin. for the Chapple list. I dont think it is
important on spelling as the same person could
have their name spelled various ways in records.
Chapple, Chapel, Chappel, Chapell, Chappell.
I note some on the other list are already on this
one. This being the larger list I will be
encouraging those on the other list to change to
this one to reach a great number of researchers
by their postings.
I live in Perth, Western Australia but this does not
prevent me from accessing many record repositories
and thousands of Family History Contacts overseas.
My Chapple interests are in St Austell and St Ewe
Cornwall UK.
Hope to hear from you all soon
Happy Hunting
Michael Cheeseman
