Hi Cousins,
I am seeking connections with descendants of some "recent" (1852)
CHAPMAN immigrants who lived in upstate New York. There was some confusion
as to whether they lived in Seneca or Ontario County, and then I discovered
that their land straddled the county line, so records were in either or
both counties. Amos's wife Ann Charlwood MARDEN died in June1881 in
Phelps, Ontario Co. and lonely Amos found another English lady immigrant to
share his life.
From Ontario County NY "Amos Chapman, Clifton Springs, 59, farmer, born
Springfield, Surrey, England, son of Thomas and Amelia Hale
Chapman. 2nd
marriage to Hepsebiah Clark, 50, born Geldeston, Eng., dau of
Samuel Clark
and Hester Folkhard, by Rev. R. E. Packwood, 21 Dec 1882."
Amos himself died 14 Oct. 1892 in Clifton Springs, Ontario County,
and is buried there with 8 of his relatives. If this 'rings any bells'
contact me for exchanging lots of wonderful info! Cheers, Loretta Chapman
