I know the feeling. My mother claimed "If they didn't spell it HIX --they
weren't
kin."
However, a generation or two back there are plenty of HICKS links that my cousin
found. & he's done tremendous work.
We just didn't tell her, bless her heart & now she's gone---but she went with
me &
helped look & left all these pictures that no one else bothered to keep.

14-15 kids) spellled their CHAPMAN!!! The one living uncle won't even look at
or consider anyother spelling for his ancestors!!!He never got anywhere. His
daughter is more open minded to spelling variations, but has to hide
everything with CHAPMAN from him. :)))
I am open to varied spellings and anyone with a brain should!!!
