There were a couple of Amasa Chapmans who would have been born ca. 1790 and 1760
who appear in the Hartford and Litchfield county censuses in CT in 1790. Amasa
isn't THAT common of a name, so I wonder. . . I have thought him to be somehow
related to my Chester Chapman of Hartland, CT, but haven't been able to solidly
identify a relationship.
Interesting potential migration pattern here: Coventry, CT, is not far from
Hartland, CT. And there is a Hartland, VT, too. . . I know there was a ton of this
kind of migration from CT to VT in this time period but thought I would point it
out.

This is my first time to post to this list, so I hope I cam make
some
connections! My 3rd great grandfather was Amasa W. Chapman. He was born abt.
1822 in Littleton NH. His parents are listed as Samuel Chapman and Sarah
Sanborn. I have no information on them or any siblings for Amasa. I looked
in town records for Littleton and found Samuel listed there abt 1818-1823. In
1843 Amasa is in Coventry VT where he married Isabel Plastridge. I see
records of five children--Melissa, Amelia Ann, Charles, John, and James. John
died as a boy. Amelia Ann was my great great grandmother--she married
Jonathan Leroy French in Coventry in 1869. Amasa W. Chapman died in Dec.
1868, he is buried in Coventry.
I would be very grateful for any info on any part of this family! Thank you
for your time. Kathy
