Cacky,
Is your Alexander Chapman the one that is the father of John Wilbur Chapman,
also a Presbyterian minister and evangelist? J.W. Chapman was associated
with both D.L. Moody and Billy Sunday at different times in his ministry.
From my perspective, he sure kept good company! If J.W. is the son of
your
Alexander, please check the response I just made to Tracy Chapman Jones.
There is a possibility my line could be from one of Philip Chapman's two
brothers. I have been looking for parents of both a John Chapman and a
William Chapman that ended up in NC in the late 1700's. They were related
and their children ended up living in Tipton County, TN. I am descended
from one of the two, but I am not sure which one yet. On the Chapman side,
as far as I can go back is to my gggrandfather, Francis Marion Chapman, who
was b.1819 in NC.
Thanks,
Gary W. Chapman

Subject: Re: [CHAPMAN-L] William Chapman of New London
I have an Alexander Chapman, Presbyterian minister and one of the
founders
of
the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was son of James Chapman and
Martha
Kilpatrick... and James was son of Philip Chapman , a wool merchant from
London c 1745 to NJ and Bucks co PA. I am descended from Philip's other
son,
Benjamin.
We can't get back past Philip. His unnamed father had a dau and 2 more
sons,
and we have no clue as to them , either.
