Chapman, Samuel W. - B. 9 Sept.1843 Wyoming Co. Ny, son of Samuel and
Margaret (Spittal) Chapman, both natives of Glasgow, Scotland. Nine
Children are named. Samuel Sr. came to America 1841 to NY, and moved on to
Kane Co. 1844. Samuel Sr.'s father was also named Samuel, and the maternal
grandfather was named Andrew Spittal. Both died aged 75 and 80 respectively
near Glasgow.
Chapman, Augustus W. - born Chemung Co., Ny 3 March 1828. His father,
Charles Chapman was born near Utica Ny, married to Miss Elizabeth Tanner,
of same region, on 24 Dec.1815. They died there, dates given. Children are
listed with places of residency or death in Illinois, Ny, Iowa, and
Nebraska. Augustus married Miss D.J.Van Duzer, native of Sullivan Co. Ny 8
June 1853, and they came west in Nov.1853. Four children are named, one in
Calif., 3 others in Illinois.
Chapman, Edgar - born Ontwell, Cambridgeshire, England, 16 June, 1875, the
son of George and Susan (Bates) Chapman. The father was also born Ontwell
1841, as was the mother in 1839. George ran a butchering business. Two of
Edgar's brothers and 2 sisters remained in England, they are named. His
brother Thomas was living in Aurora, Ill. when Edgar emmigrated, and this
is where he came. He later married and had 5 children, who are named.
