Thanks for sharing the detailed info on James' children. If there was a
connection with my William CHAPMAN and yours (s/o James), then William would
have dumped his entire family and shown up in IN in 1860 with a new wife and
kids. My William's marriage to Matilda probably happened between 1850-1855.
The earliest child that I have for them was born in 1855. But the earliest
census I have info on this family is 1860. I wouldn't rule out an earlier
marriage for my William R. CHAPMAN, but have no info on him prior to 1860.
I still need to go back farther with census records for more clues.
