Try looking at Onondaga Co. NY. An Amasa Chapman was there circa 1820's and
30's. His father was a John or Jacob, according to my notes.
I can send you what I have got from the listmembers on him if you would
like.

Subject: Re: [CHAPMAN-L] CHAPMAN - BROWNINGTON, VT
Dear Irene and cousins, will file the Thomas Chapman info he may be a
relative! My Samuel remains elusive though I did find his death
certificate
last night! He died in Coventry, VT January 28, 1874. I had
suspected he
had outlived his son Amasa W(d. 1868 age 46) as there were bills on Amasa's
estate for care of "old" Mr. Chapman and the "old Gentleman" and fees
for
caring for him at $2/week for over 2 years. He was 82 years old but no
parents or place of birth listed. So I am still looking. I believe he had
several children, including Ruth(Barnes), Amasa W. and Adolphus if that
helps
anyone.
I will have the films at the FHC for the next few weeks, they are VT vitals
early -1908 for CHAPMAN so would be glad to do lookups for anyone. Thanks
for
thinking of me Irene! Kathy
