Betsey: Thank you for your help.
The other people on this Chapman list appear to have Lydia Hunt, rather
than Hannah Amidown/Amidon, as the wife of the Amasa Chapman who was
born in 1771. But perhaps Hannah was his first/earlier wife.
My Margaret Almira Chapman was apparently born in Massachusetts in
1792, so Hannah probably would not have been her mother if she and Amasa
were married in Ashford, CT, in 1796.
So I may not be descended from this Amasa Chapman. But then I have
previously thought that Margaret Almira Chapman's father was John
Chapman.
Again, thank you for your help!

Hi Paul,
In the Barbour collection of CT Vital Records for the town of Ashford
there is the following;
CHAPMAN, Amasa s Jacob and Ellinah b June 29 1771
" " m Hannah AMIDOWN (probably AMIDON)
Oct 13 1796
No children of this couple appear in the Vitals from Barbour.
Probably they moved right after their marriage. Hannah appears to be da of
Joseph and Patience AMIDOWN of Ashford. Woodstock CT is next door, with
great records. Did they move there? Betsey
