Gee, cousins - sorry I've been gone so long! Thought I'd subscribe again. .
.
I was called today by Donald Neal of Cabell Co. WV, who is researching
Chapmans. He thought we might be cousins through John CHAPMAN (1740-1813)
of the Revolutionary War who married Sally ABBOTT, and had children Isaac
(my gggggrandfather), George, John, Sallie, Annie, Henley and Jemima. They
all came to reside, many to die, in what became Giles Co. VA. George
Roberts, in his increasingly obviously questionable lineage of the Hunter
and Related Familes, indicates that John's son John married Dicie NAPIER,
and was killed rather young by a horse after producing children George and
Andrew. Was there a sibling John?
Donald believes his John Jr., b. 1795 was the son of John and Sally CHAPMAN
and married Lucy HUDSON in Cabell Co. 1816. Their children were Araminta,
Rebecca, Sarah, William, Eli Childers, Rhoda, Jerman (Jamison), Martha,
Albert, Jucy, and Benjamin Henry. Their birthdates range from 1816 to 1853,
which strikes me as doubtful. Has anyone heard of this particular covey of
Chapmans?
