line. Haven't heard anything from Chapman's for a while. :( Where is everyone?
In the Name of God Amen:
I William Chapman of Fleming County and State of
Kentucky being Sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory praised
be God for the Same, Revoking all Others do make and ordain this my last
will and Testament which is as following VIZ;
First my will is (and?) I order the Same that my Remains be intered in a
deacent Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors .
Also, I order that as soon as may be after my decease all my moveable
property be Exposed to public Vendue to the Highest Bidder and out of the money
arising from such sale (__ __ ____) my Just Debts be paid and my funeral
expenses discharged and the Ballance Or Remainder of the money arising from
such sale I Order to be Equally divided Among my Sons and Daughters to wit:
Collimore Chapman, Tabitha Plummer, Mary Plummer, William Chapman, Monica
Plummer, Naaman Chapman and Nancy Chapman; Only William Plummer has had
Twenty One dollars and twelve cents worth of Land which he Stands Charged
with and which Sum shall be deducted of Tabitha his wifes Share -- and
(_______) Jeremiah
Plummer Stand Charged with Sundries to the amount of fifteen Pounds Seven
Shillings (as per ____ Corrected?) which I deem Shall be deducted out of
Monica his wifes part.
And whereas my Lands whereon I now live is Incumbered with a lawsuit my
will is and I order the same that the Executors of this my last will and
Testament, Rent the same out to the best advantage that may be, and apply
the rent arising from the same or so much of it as may be necessary to the
purpose of carrying on said suit. And at the end of said Law suit, if the
Land should stand as my property or real estate under the Title I now hold
it then and in such case my will is and I order the same the said lands with
the appurtenances thereto belonging be (____ ____)to sale by way of Public
Vendue, my Executors Giving a Reasonable Credit on the same at thier own
discretion Adn the money Arising from Such sale as Soon as it Can be
collected to be Equally divided among my sons and daughters above
particularly names.
And Lastly I nominate Constitute and Appoint my son William Chapman and
my son in law Thomas Kirk Plummer Executors of this my last will and
Testament; In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
fifteenth day of (July?) In the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred
& Seven (1807).
