Obituary from Dulap Iowa Paper:
Mary D. Nash ded Monday, 10 Aug. 1925, at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Effie Landis, in Dunlap, Iowa. Her husband [Chandler DeWitt NASH]
died 9 Oct. 1911, and Mary D. Nash lived with Effie Landis from that
time on.
She married 25 Dec. 1867 [Bloomingdale, DuPage, IL]. In the spring
of 1868, they came to Crawford County [Iowa], settling at Deloit. A few
years later they moved to Harrison Co. and then moved back to Crawford
Co, making their home on a farm for several years. Dunlap was in name
only as there were no buildings, save a blacksmith shop and one store.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Nash. Three preceded her in
death. In the year 1900 they moved to Dunlap. Mrs. Nash was a charter
member of the Dunlap circuit of the Free Methodist church and was a
class leader for a number of years. She held this office at the time
of her death. She lived a consistent christian and all who knew her
like her for her piety. In
her days of health she was found nursing the sick, caring for the dying
and in homes of the needy. She will be missed. Many will rise up and
call her blessed.
The funeral services were held in the Free Methodist Church,
conducted by the district ?, Rev. J. F. Mudd, of Shenandoah, Iowa. The
remains were laid to rest in Pleasant Hill cemetery to await the
resurrection.
Mary DeEtt Chapman NASH was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Elizabeth
Rogers CHAPMAN.
