Anyone have Riley (abt 1814) and Harriet Chapman (1815) as ancestors?
According to the US Census, they were born in New York, spent some time and
had children in Ohio, probably in Granger Twp., Medina County, where I found
them in 1850 with his name given as Reley. Next found in Liberty, Scott,
Iowa in 1870 and 1880. By 1900, Riley was a widower, living with (probably
his son) James Chapman family in Lake, Calhoun, Iowa. Riley´s father was
born in Connecticut and mother in New York. Harriet´s parents were both born
in Connecticut.
Children (1850 Census) included James R. (born NY about 1840, later listed
as Sept 1838), Grove L. (born Ohio abt 1842), George H. (Ohio abt 1843),
Charles A. (Ohio abt 1842), Charles A. (Ohio abt 1842) and Harriet M. (Ohio
abt 1848), and in 1870, a son M.P.(Ohio abt 1871), Mary (Ohio abt 1854), and
Lois (Ohio abt 1870).
The 1980 census includes a daughter´in'law Lucy, 32, born in NY, and
granddaughter Anna born in Iowa.
Their George might be my ggrandfather.
