How sure of the Chapman connection the reason I ask is because the Bleace
family had a daughter with a simiar name and timing that indirectly elated
to the Chapmans of Saluda SC. Buried in the Chapman grounds at Saluda:

I continue to look for the parents of Joseph Chapman who married

Fleming about 1800 in Charleston SC. Because of the names of their
children, I suspect he was of the Giles Chapman family of Newberry SC,
but have not found the documents which firmly tie him to this family.
