I don't have an answer to your question, but the list of names you are
searching caught my eye. I am also searching CHAPMAN, STRANGE, and GRAY.
The farthest I've gotten so far is to ALEXANDER STRANGE, SR., born abt. 1661
Devon England; died abt 1725 New Kent County, Virginia.
Also have WALTER ANDERSON CHAPMAN (the son of John Chapman of Virginia), born
1811 Franklin Co. Missouri, died about 1877 Crawford County, Missouri.
Married LOUISA MAY GRAY SAUNDERS, born about 1812 in Virginia, died about
1880 in Crawford County Missouri. Her mother was FRANCES "FANNIE" GRAY, born
about 1788 and died after 1850.
Fannie's was married to Reuben Saunders born abt 1785 in Carolina County,
Virginia and died about 1848 in Virginia.
Any connections?
Pam Bell

Do you know if your John Chapman had a brother, William, from Va.?
5 brothers came over together and I am trying to find them. I do not know his
birthdate
but his son was born in 1842.

No, I'm sorry I don't. That's been the problem. I don't know his full
name
nor siblings, etc. If I can make a connection through siblings of his son
Walter Alexander Chapman, there's a good possibly of learning more. At this
point, know nothing of eithers siblings.
Thanks for your reply.

Babsy - - the son that was born in 1842, do you have any further information
on that? As you can see from my records, that Alexander Campbell Chapman was
the third son born of Walter Anderson Chapman, and he was born in Missouri.
There does seem to be a strong tie to Virginia. I know this because family
history states that two of Alexander's siblings, Frank and Mary Frances
(Molly) were sent back to Virginia for their education.
Thanks,
Pam Bell
