Hi everyone!
I need some help tracking down a ancestor of mine. What I'm trying to do
is find some source other than the census (state or federal) that will
provide me with some information about the children (name, age, and gender,
or any combination of) in the family. The time period I'm dealing with
1860-1870 in Mississippi. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what
other sources are available for this information?
Thanks,
Corey
If anyone filed for a military pension, information on family members should
be included. Additionally, during the Civil War period, salt was a precious
commodity. "Salt lists" were maintained which listed the names (and in some
cases ages) of those receiving the allowance.
I am not familiar with Mississippi research. Suggest you post your query on
lists of that state.
Good luck.
