Dear Pam,
Another idea: It's called an "Obit Lookup" on the Cumberland County message
board. Usually there is a person on the message board that will do look ups
from the kindness of their hearts!
I believe Portland is in the County of Cumberland, you might want to check.
Or perhaps there is a Portland Maine message board.....try both. The obit may
give more info as to just where the accident may have happened, date etc.
leading to a Newspaper article.
I've had several obit look ups answered on message boards....it's worth a try.

Hi,
I was wondering if someone out there might be able to help me? My Aunt Pearl
(Gladys Pearl (nee Chapman) Brown) was in show business and was traveling
with her agent to the next town when he fell asleep and hit a tree. He was OK
but she was thrown through the windshield and killed. This was in 1928. When
not performing she lived in Portland, ME. with her husband Frank L. Brown and
her 13 year old daughter, Elizabeth. I know it was written up in the paper
because my grandmother showed it to me back when I was just a child. I would
love to have a copy of the story and obit but have no idea regarding the actual
date.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Pamela Weeks
