Hello, I have been out of town so am just getting back on the
background of Michael Chapman for whom I had an inquiry. Thanks to Gil,
et al and apologize for not filling you on.
Brick wall details foolow:
According to research done by another descendant, Jeff Miller, and
other info I found through
ancestry.com
Michael Chapman married Marcy Doolittle (daughter of Abraham, III)
March 12,1733, Marcy appears to have been 14 and pregnant with their
first child. Their children and births are in Wallingford town records
and some in Cheshire.
Miller reports Based upon a deed of land to Michael in 1734, when he
needed to be 21 years of age to own land, he had to have been born no
later than 1713. May not have been of age when he married Marcy in
1733.
The family also were members of the church in Cheshire, and then
Bethlehem.
But I cannot find Michael's birthplace or parentage; he does not seem
to be from Wallingford.
With the exception of other states farther away, the only Chapman I
could find Michael I could find was thus:
In 1695 Nathaniel Chapman, of Ipswich, and w. Mary had upon the
> records the names of two sons, Michael and David, and three
daughters.
But then discovered this Michael died 1697.
The family may have gone to Maine.
I did not think this Michael was mine, of course, but wonder if my
roots go back to Ipswich. some Chapmans from Ipswich (Rowley) went on
to Norwich, etc. and or married women from Ipswich.
Michael b: c. 1714 d. before May 10 1779) (ancestry needed for this
Michael)
Nathaniel b: 9 NOV 1739 d: 4 OCT 1809 (Litchfield Co. CN)
Michael b: 1758 d: 7 SEP 1840 (Huron Co. Ohio)
Nathaniel b: MAR 1793 d: 27 MAY 1865 (Huron Co. Ohio)
I am fervently hoping somewhere my original Michael's roots will be
found.
Thanks.
