Mari,
I received at least one version of the virus from someone on the
list. The emails
that "look" empty, aren't really empty. If you look at the size of the
message,
they are 40K and if you preview or open email in Outlook or Outlook
Express the
script can run and infect your machine.
Yes. I realized and am well aware of that......which is why I explained
that the empty ones WERE virus infected because of the footprint of having
the underscore before the return address. This can ONLY be seen/viewed
with the full headers.
That was explained by the portion of the message I forwarded from Jean
Snow. I added my own statement at the top which included this line:
"I've received messages from several that were blank, and had the
underscore today alone."
In other words, those blank messages ARE virus infected.
I have receieved over a dozen of these
messages in the past two days all from people I don't know.
I've received that many from each of my lists. I manage 8.
This thing sends your
IP address to the author and then captures all your keystrokes such as bank
accounts and passwords.
I know. I'm fully aware of all of this. This is also explained on the
Symantec site.
Here are instuctions for removing plus a link to the Microsoft site to
patch your
Outlook and Outlook Express:
I already sent this link initially. It was included in the second email I
sent to the list regarding the virus and what to do.
