Hi, just reading throught the postings and I don't know much about the CT Chapmans,
but aren't/weren't there Chapmans in Killingworth CT? If so, wonder if they are
related. Killingworth is some minutes (maybe 20? More?) but in similar rural areas. You
might want to aske around and if you are coming here, check out Killingworth too.

Plainfield, CT. I do NOT have copies of the vital records, but did copy

From Portland, CT
Phidelia R Chapman (Fidelia in the FW Chapman book) born to Egbert Chapman
and Elizabeth Salisbury on May 21 864, Portland, CT. At time of birth,
Egbert was a farmer. Egbert was born in Portland, Ct, Elizabeth was born in
England.
Clarisia Chapman, born to Egbert Chapman and Elizabeth Salisbury on Feb 19,
1861 in Portland Ct. Father was a laborer at the time of birth.
Henry S Chapman, born March 6 1870 Portland, CT to Egbet Chapman and
Elizabeth Salisbury. Egbert was a farmer at time of Henry's birth. Henrywas
child 4.
Water W Chapman born Jun 8 1880 in Portland CT to Ebgert Chapman and
Elizabeth Salisbury
Owen Chapman son of Abel Chapman and Lucy Tennant,residing in Portland,CT,
was born May 31 1809 in Glastonbury, CT
La Fayette Chapman married Elizabeth Hale (Elizaette) April 12 1866. Hewas
25 and she was 24
Mary Jane Chapman married Benjamin Chapman July 18 1857. Mary Jane was 19
at the time of marriage.
Etson Chapman, son of Nathanael Chapman and Melinda Eliza Huniston married
Fannie E Jones on Feb 25 1886. Etson resided in Glastonbury, Ct, was born in
Seymoure, CT and his occupation was a farmer. Fannie resided in Portland,
CT, was born in Texas and her parents were American. Etson was 23 and
Fannie was 25.
Plainfield, CT
Abby Jane Chapman M Sep 21 1851
Levinia Chapman, Married May 1 1866 to Charles Tyler. Both born in
Sterlington CT. Residenceof Moosup, CT
William Chapman Died Sep 29 1865
Nathan Chapman Married Dec 31,1874
For those interested in Chapman's from the Portland, Ct area, you might be
interested in knowing that Portland was established in 1841. That is the
earliest date of records that that have. Prior to that, they were part of
East Hampton,CT.
