A bible given to one of the descendants of the L.B. Blease- Giles Chapman
family was loaned to me at the first meeting of the Dormant Bethel Church
(Universalist -Saluda SC) last week.
One of my the folks at the meeting who attends Clayton Memorial Church noted
she believed the name of the church on the bible was possibly a church in
Massachusetts.
It appears it was. The bible is marked on its cover with "First Universalist
Society of South Acton".
Is this the same church that would merge with the neighboring Unitarian
congregation? Or did something else happen. It appears there is a
Congregational Church there as well.
Any clues?
Very interested in how L.B. Blease would come by the bible. Thankful that
his grandson had it. It may be the only thing left besides the building and
grounds of the remains of the church. Although we are hopeful in finding the
pews.
