In a book called The Chapman Chronicles by James Ray Chapman, Mr. Chapman
reports that a large number of related Chapman families were transported as
indentured servants to the Calvert Plantation in Maryland. This plantation
is located in what is now Calvert Co., MD between the Patuxent River and
Chesapeake Bay, due east of Charles Co., MD. The book states that these
Chapman families came to Baltimore Landing, Maryland on the ship Adelaide
in April, 1701. This specific information is said to have been located for
Mr. Chapman by a professional genealogist who claims to have found, at the
Colonial Registry in Baltimore, MD, a detailed journal of the trip on the
Adelaide which was kept by a minister who was on board. The journal was
later published in book form by the First Methodist College of Baltimore.
Is anyone on the list familiar with this book or have contacts at the
Colonial Registry in Baltimore who might be able to locate this book?
