Peggy,
How about an Isaac Chapman, husband of Sarah Cole?
Genealore holds that he was a descendent of Thomas Chapman of 1610 Jordan's
Journey, VA, but even older historical records point to origins in
Connecticut:
The Pearisburg Virginian in March 15, 1928 quotes Mrs. W. P. Miller at the
unveiling of the D.A.R. marker for the grave of his son John Chapman: The
Chapmans who were of English origin, immigrated to America and settled in
Connecticut long prior to the Revolutionary War. From there they moved to
Charles County, Maryland. Leaving Maryland before the beginning of the
revolution, a part of them came to Culpeper county, Virginia. Isaac Chapman
was among this number, and there he married Sarah Cole, by whom he had
threes sons and one daughter, namely, Isaac, John, Richard, and Jemima.
Many more Isaac Chapmans are found in New England in the early 1700s than in
Virginia. Dying in Orange Co. VA in 1747, this Isaac may have been born
around 1710-1723. If you find this Isaac, it would certainly stir up some
more controversy. . .

Hi Nancy,
I do not see any mention of Illinois in the book at all. Most of all is in
either Mass, Connecticut, or Rhode Island. What would some of the other
names,
other than Chapman that you are looking for? Please list both given and
sir
names so I can look them up in the book. Thanks.
Peggy Chapman
