I am searching for information and/or assistance with J.
O. Chapman family.
GR Grandfather, James Oliver Chapman, b. Mar 10, 1824,
TN, parents names unknown at this time. Married Mary
Jane Williams, Bibb County, AL, Mar 27, 1847. She was b.
Mar. 1, 1829, AL
1850 Census indicates J.O. and Mary Jane Williams /
Chapman in Perry County, AL. Other member of household
at that time was Jane Williams, aged 61 Yrs, b., GA.
Most likely she was Mary Janes Mother.
1855 Alabama State Census, Tuscaloosa County, indicates
James O. Chapman, head of household with two females
under 21 Yrs, and One Female over 21 Yrs. Believe two
daughters born (one named Ruth) before my Grandfather,
W. J. Chapman, b. Jan. 25, 1857, in AL.
Two other sons born to J.O. and Mary Jane. John W.
Chapman, b. 1865, MS, and James Edward Chapman, b. 1869,
MS.
Family migrated to Eulogy, Bosque County, TX, between
1869 and 1879. My Grandfather, W. J. Chapman married my
Grandmother, Susan Elizabeth Wales, Bosque County, TX,
Feb. 5, 1879. John W. Chapman married Caroline E.
Huggins, Bosque County, TX, July 2, 1885.
Believe John W. and Caroline E. Chapman returned to
Bienville Parish, LA (Perhaps Ringold area) after 1885.
No further trace of them or their family.
Also it is believed that the two older children
(daughters) married in Bienville Parish while family was
migrating to TX.
Any connections and/or information greatly appreciated.
