Well I am curious!
I know that My CHAPMANs probably came through Stoddard MO from White County,
ILL. Infact the Step-son of my great greatgrandfather's wife's sister(
wow!) was living there in Stoddard co.
My GGgrandfather Andrew Jackson CHAPMAN married Jane(aka Janette, Janice)
MCGEE(aka MCGHEE, MCGEHEE) and she had a sister(?) Ruth(aka Rutha) MCGEE who
married Nichiolas HUFF and he has a son NAthan HUFF who is listed some scrap
of paper in the slush pile of my research as living and I think marrying in
Stoddard County, MO.
INteresting!!!!! The CHAPMAN family left White co. Ill after the 1850
census. and are found in northern ark county of Newton in 1860 and other
local counties through 1880.( of course there is not an 1890 to tell me where
they were!!!!) and it the lat 1800's I find they were in and around Dolphian
area in MO before coming to Shawnee OK to die9 my great gradfather Thomas E.
CHAPMAN and second wife )
So anyone find anything that makes us an intersting connection????????

Uncanny? It is a very small world! My sister still lives in Chaffee,
Stoddard Co., MO. Let me know if I can help you find out something. I was
born in Sikeston, MO., just a few miles south of the thriving metropolis of
Chaffee! LOL
Tks,

Janey, I am curious too. What was the name of the stepson, or the name of
your gggrandfather's wife's sister living in Stoddard County?
My gfather may have been a stepson of a CHAPMAN, and he (and his family?)
migrated from southern Illinois to Stoddard County around 1900. He died in
Dexter, Stoddard CO, MO in 1967. His name was Samuel BAKER.
