Okay, all my Chapman cousins:
I need some advice....I have a Great-Grandmother Sarah (born
1820, date
and place of death unknown) who married William Chapman. I'm desperate
to locate her origins. My grandfather's death certificate lists her
maiden name as Truax. However, his brother's death certificate lists
Sarah's maiden name as Larkin. The death records of four other of
Sarah's children don't list any parents at all, and I can't locate the
dod of the seventh. I don't know where William and Sarah married,
although when William purchased land in Washington County, Ohio, he
listed his former residence as Brooke County, and that's the location of
his family. One of my cousins says she believes GGrandma was born in
Jefferson County, Ohio, but I can't locate any Truax or Larkin family
there who will claim her, and the marriage also isn't listed there!
(To make matters worse, after Great-Grandfather William Chapman died,
Sarah married a SMITH.) Preacher and all...how would you proceed next in
breaking down this brick wall.
Thanks, my friends. Patty Chapman Pulasky
