Morgan was made from Wilkes County.GA To research early records you have to
sometimes use the county that existed before the latter ones named. The county
lines moved but often the people were at the same place. Especially in
Georgia. Look for the earliest counties.
From Notes I have made:
Wilkes County Early Deeds Deed Book HH
Chapman William and wife Elizabeth bounded by Benjamin Welch, Ann Milligan
Joseph Kemp, Silas Bowen- (Neighbors) Deed to Ann Milligan Dec 20 1784

I did not read all the years. They are on line. They have many records for
Morgan ,Elbert ,Early Wilkes Counties.
As stated before just type in County you want to search and add name like
Chapmans Morgan County GA
Many areas to search and most will have the name you requested.
Also another Chapman Family lineage is on Chapman Families Association They
are the New England Chapmans by Felix Augusta Vann His wife was a Chapman from
New England.
Another family is listed partially there from a book "Chapman Family History"
IRA CHAPMAN wrote on his family. All documentation they could find on their
lineage. George Chapman Roots in Pickens County SC and moved into GA. They say
George Chapman was youngest son of Enoch Chapman.
It has a Service Record and Pension Application on Joseph Chapman Rev
Soldier.
They found Chapmans in Pickens and Transylvania Counties
"Joseph Chapman was the first recorded Chapman to settle in what is now
Pickens SC We feel sure he is the ancestor of the Eastatoe Valley Chapmans and
East Fork, NC Chapmans
The second group in Pickens County SC 1810-1820 was Joshua Chapman came from
Hard Labor Creek southeastern SC and settled in Six Mile.
Note I believe this Joshua Chapman is a son of Samuel Chapman Joseph Chapman,
Giles Chapman SR.
The names are all similar.
The third group led by brothers Benjamin and James Chapman left Abbeville and
Newberry CO SC to settle in old Pickens Many of their members emigrated
southwestward To Alabama and further. But one William settled in Liberty SC and
established a lineage there.
Fourth group represented by Samuel Chapman who seems to have come from
Newberry CO SC settled near Dacusville Several stayed but many migrated one settled
in Pelzer SC."
