Hi there I have read you queery and you are the closest person to me that I've been
able to find in years. My Chapmans come from Yorkshire England. Going to Nova Scotia or
New Brunswick . Boston is where my maternal grand mother was from and she married a
Chapman from New Brunswick Canada. This is where the problem has been for years. I was
told years ago her (madien) name was Grace Eldora (Yates) but I can't find her in
Boston or her father William Frank Yates. Never heard about her mother. But seeing you say
Gates and in Boston I'm woundering if I have the wrong spelling.?? Even though she
lived with my family for years in Maine, while growing up, she never once talked about her
family. My mother Catherine Barbara (Chapman) Smith, was also born in Middlesex Boston.
Anyway here is the line as I know it..
William Chapman was age b:1730 in Yorkshire England. He married Mary ?? who was b: in 1732
they had nine children.the oldest being 19 and youngest was 01 when they came to New
Brunswick and or Nova Scotia in 1774. Children are as follows, William, Thomas, Jane,
John, Mary, Henry, Jonathan, Sarah, Ann Chapman in order of their births. Now my line goes
from Thomas sr., Thomas jr., Joseph who married Jane Scott, they had 14 children, one
named George Stanley who married Catherine Steeves and they had 07 children. One of them
being Roy Allison Chapman who married Grace Eldora (Yates). Okay you take it from here
anything sound or look familiar?? Thanks, Judy(Smith)Davis from Lehigh Acres, Florida USA
